Uhhh need help deciphering. UGH.

Cat's out of the bag now.

I got a BFP this morning. I'm on day 30 of my cycle. I usually start my period on day 28. My temp is still elevated. I did have some (very dark) spotting a couple days ago, but not super heavy but it was there so that made me unsure if this was going to happen or not.

So I took a test this morning and got a faint line. We were jazzed. Then I look at it again several hours later and can't see the line. Then I took another one just now and there is no plus. Just the minus.

WTF? Am I just a couple days late, which seems unusual because my cycles have been pretty regular and my cramps are on/off or what? I called my OB and they are closed for the weekend. GRRRRRRR.

No it wasn't digital. It was ept with the plus or minus sign. The lines are blue, is that what you mean about blue dye? I think I am on the verge of feeling disappointed and stupid all at the same time.

My guesses are

1) your hCG levels aren't very high and during your subsequent tests your urine wasn't concentrated enough

2) The firs positive was an evaporation line

3) I really hope it isn't chemical pregnancy

For both of my CPs, I got positive tests (multiple ones) before my missed period, then negative test right around the time of my missed period, then started my period 3 days late - and I am typically like clock work.

THIS STUFF IS SO FRUSTRATING!! Hang in there

Thanks Susan. I know, I was thinking of CPs too. However I am officially late, so that gives me a bit of hope. But like you said, you were also late and then you had your period. Damn technology and allowing us to find this stuff out before our period would have shown up on its own. So thrilled I get to sit around all weekend and wonder until I can call my dr on Monday. Or maybe AF will show up and give me the answer on her own. Ugh.

Laney! Don't feel stupid at all. This stuff it emotional. And the most frustrating part is that there is no way to know until you either start your period or get another positive test. BIG hugs your way!

I think I am going to wait until Sunday or Monday and then get a digital (HCG levels will rise). If AF is going to make her appearance it'll probably be by then. I probably just need to chill and let mother nature take her course.

My husband was like, what's the big deal? (when I got the negative POAS) and I was like uhhh, now I have to wait 48+ hrs to know??? How could this not be a big deal. Men.

Very similar thing happened to me with a blue dye plus/negative test a few months back. I was super stoked as I watched it turn into a positive and then 5 minutes later (within the test reading window) it was a negative

Why do they even sell those dang blue dye tests anymore? Grrr!

With both of my pregnancies I had bfps followed by bfns, but I also got my bfps at like 9-10 dpo so the subsequent tests probably didn't have enough hcg built up in my urine. If you hold your pee for a good 3-4 hours (don't dilute it by drinking a ton), you should get an accurate test this evening if you have already gotten a true bfp. I'm sorry you're going through these emotional ups and downs, keep us updated!

I'd get a digital and test again Sunday morning, first thing. Maybe your hcg levels weren't high enough later today to show a positive, especially if you drink a lot of water. And isn't that a good thing that your temps are still high? I charted for my first 2 PG, I don't even remember how that works.

When I got PG with my 3rd I had spotting a couple of days before my period was due. AF never came and I ended up being PG. That was not typical for me at all - I didn't have spotting with my first 2 kids in the first trimester.

I think I would buy several digital tests and do like chicsub said and hold it for 4 hours then take one this evening then I'd probably take one in the morning and Sunday morning. I'm a test waster though. But I consider money spent for me to keep my sanity is worth it. GL

Yeah I may do that. I think I am afraid to get a "Not Pregnant" but I just need to deal right? I didn't realize the blue dye ones were so controversial! Now I know. I have to run an errand later, maybe I will grab one then.

"not pregnant" just means more trying and you have no reason to think you won't be able to get pregnant. And this is your last time to be trying right? So I know it's exciting to hurry up and get pg but I don't know...I'm kinda hoping to have several months of trying for our #3. Maybe that sounds weird. But if it's the last time, it will be kinda fun in a way to really absorb the experience I guess (even though it is such an emotional rollercoaster).

I didn't either- until I got on TTGP board. They seem to be very hard to decipher. I've only used digital.

Shopping would be lovely. Tonight I've got regular dinner/bedtime duty with my husband. Then a dude is coming by to buy my bike off craigs list. Then I have to sneak out and run a pre-boudoir errand and then all tomorrow morning I'll be taking the photo shoot. So... that should keep me busy. If AF is going to show, it'll probably be within the next day or two I'd imagine.

And I feel compelled to say that I realize this is really no big deal in the big scheme of things and that many women who may actually have fertility challenges or problems are probably rolling their eyes at my little diatribe here. So please excuse this post for my ... silliness (?). I just hate not knowing what is up, but as many have pointed out, if it's a no-go this round, we can keep trying with fervor in a couple weeks. :P I guess I was using this board as really my only outlet for this little frustration that occurred today because I can only harp about it so much to my husband.

With both pregnancies I used the cheapest PG test I could find and both worked fine the times that I tested either PG or not...

I'm thinking that 1) they always tell you test first thing in the morning with your first trip to the bathroom so that you have the highest concentration of HcG for an accurate test especially in the very early days of when you can test. 2) you're testing VERY early, give yourself a day or two then test again. If you're going to test positive you'll test positive with a cheap test just as well as you will with the expensive ones...

Get a pink dye test and see if you get a second line. If you do, congratulations. Confirm with first-morning-urine (FMU) the next day with a digital.

Blue Dye test are known for false positives.
