C-sections

Healing after c-section

My LO is almost 12 weeks old. My scar still feels a little raw if that makes sense. When did your scar feel completely normal and are you using any cream to heal the scar? If so, what? I'm also healing from having my appendix removed but those scars are nothing compared to the c-section incision.

Re: Healing after c-section

  • I think it was many months before I regained feeling in the scar area and it wasn't so tender. I remember it was 6+ months for me before I stopped feeling the burning sensation if I jolted out of bed too quickly to get to baby. I didn't use anything on the scar, it healed beautifully and is hardly noticeable in the bikini line area.

  • I was numb for months after my c-section.  I am 10 months now and still have some numbness.  I was told that you may never get full feeling back since they had to cut through nerves.  Just depends on how it heals.

  • With my first I remember it feeling like it took forever! But at about 6 months was when the nerves were coming back and it felt funny when they misfired. With my second I was walking sooner, and was able to move alot better. It didn't take as long to heal and they said that the cut was not as nice as it could have been. Now a year later from my last Im going to have yet another. Im hoping that it heals fast. About the only thing I had put on it when my 2nd started to smell funny we put some yeast cream on it, and that took away the funky smell.
  • DD will be 1 on Oct 24 and I still have days when I'm sore. I'm not using any cream because my scar is below my top of my bikini line so you can see it.
