36 week appointment

Just got back from my 36 week appointment. The doctor said I am starting to make some progress. I am 1 cm dilated. Baby had dropped and my cervix is starting to thin out.

As we all know, it doesn't mean anything...I could give birth next week or 4 weeks from now, but at least my body seems to know what to do.

The doctor took my swab to gets for Group B Strep and I got a blood test to see if the iron pills are helping my anemia.

Overall, a good appointment. Of course, now my hubby is freaking out because he will be away in the mountains this weekend (completely out of reach by phone). He is terrified that I will go into labor and he will miss the birth even though I told him, I really doubt I will go this weekend and I explained that women can walk around a few centimeters dilated for weeks!

After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

    Congrats on your progress! Its always exciting to hear that there's been a change.

    IMO - you might want to come up with some kind of plan for communication with your hubby while he's camping. Maybe he could find a way to check in once a day or something. You're probably right that nothing will happen, but it would make me kind of nervous. Of course, anxiety is my MO, so maybe its no big deal as long as you have other people around just in case  :)

    Congrats! You've made more progress at 36 weeks than I have. I'm still long, closed, and high. I also agree with pp regarding a communication plan. I would probably send myself into labor worrying about him being out of pocket.

    I know a girl that was 2 cm dilated, lost her mucous plug and didnt give birth for 3 weeks.... or maybe more - she is a friend of a friend.

    i have mine today too...Been having some BH...but don't expect anything crazy!

    DH is going to drive to a spot where he can call once a day. (There is no reception at their camp site.)  I am not too worried about it...I really don't think I am going into labor anytime soon, but it makes him feel better to know that he can check-in with me.

    My plan for the weekend...sleep. Man, I feel like the first trimester all over again. I am exhausted!
