Some people say they have an upset stomach but I have not had this be an issue. Otherwise, there is no con I have heard (actually, I think that and maybe constipation have been the only ones) that weren't FAR outweighed by the substantial pros.

The only time I got an upset stomach with prenatals was when I was actually PG with DD, and well, everything gave me an upset stomach when I was PG with DD. I haven't had any 'cons' with the vitamins since TTC again. GL!
The only con is when one of your liquigels has a hole and leaks stinky dha fish oil all over every pill in the brand new bottle. Tossed it and I'm getting a new bottle today. I find the liquigels are easier on my stomach and much easier to swallow.

I work in the Autism field and yes, there are many different views about the topic, but there are a lot of studies showing that women who do not have enough Folic Acid in their body at time of conception and a few months in, that ALSO have a predisposition to have children with Autism, increase the changes the child will. I am not saying if you don't take them you will have children with Autism, but they are really focusing on the Folic Acid combo idea. They are saying 3 months before TTC and beyond is the best and decreases chances.

Hoping for a shamrock baby....Grandma, I know you are up there looking down on me. March and St Patrick's Day is a very special time for all of us. It would be amazing to find out I was pregnant in March! Please send me all your Irish luck (been trying for 7 months and I need it!) I Love you! XOXOXOXO

interesting.....I didn't know they had done studies linking the two together.
I've been taking them every day for 2.5 years. They're really not that much different then a one-a-day. I take mine at night, right before bed, so I don't have fishy burps during the day.

I've read that you shouldn't take the ones that are pink in color because they have that Dye Red 40 in them that may cause hyperactivity. The natural ones are the best. Also, before you are pregnant you only need 400 mg...most multi vitamins cover that.

The only con I've found is I have to trim my nails and hair more frequently because they grow so fast. I'll take that over risking my child having neural tube defects any day of the week.
You want your folic acid levels 'topped off' before you get ku because the neural tube develops in the first week or so and you might not know that you're ku yet.

Cons? Well... I guess if it's a giant horse pill, it may not be fun to take!
I take the Rainbow Light Prenatal One "just once" vitamin. It's huge, but you only take one a day and it's food-based, I like it. I stopped taking it for several months when we decided to TTA for a while but I still took a regular multivitamin plus 800mcg of folic acid. Even with the folic acid in the vitamin now, I take 400mcg extra. We're a month and a half out from TTC again and I recently switched back to the prenatal from the regular multi. If absolutely nothing else, make folic acid supplements a definite part of your day... but as I see it, you might as well take the whole prenatal!

There aren't any cons. You should take them.

The only "con" for me is that the can have a drug interaction with my thyroid meds. However, if I take them hours apart, it's all good.
Take your PNVs.

Ditto PP. It's stupid not to.
