DH getting transferred, so sad! :( :(

DH is a landscape designer for a large company and they informed him last month that his branch office would be closing as of October 1st and he would be transferred, either to the office 15 minutes from our house or the one two hours away.  They made their decision today (putting it off till the last minute, as usual), and guess which one they chose? Crying

He said he tried to appeal but it was no use.  Now I can't stop crying.  I know he'll probably still make it back for the birth because that will take some time, but I don't know when he'll ever have time to spend with me or the baby.  He'll have to leave home around 7:30 a.m. and he won't get back till well after midnight.  Technically he has Wednesday and Thursday off but they always call him in anyway or he has to meet with clients.  He hasn't had a day off these past three weeks.

Stupid company politics!

    Oh, that really sucks. I'm sorry. My husband has to work six days a week, with an hour commute each way and it is making me similarly sad, especially as the due date gets so near. Is it an option to move closer to his job?

    I'm so sorry - that truly does suck.  I would definitely suggest that he put his foot down about not working on his days off - not if he has to travel 2 hours each way!  No way!  If they are going to be unbending about where they transfer him, he has no reason to be flexible if they want him to come in on his days off. 

    As others have suggested - if possible, I would consider moving closer to where he's now working and/or have him look for a new job.

    His company is pretty fickle about placement.  We just moved into this apartment a year ago to be closer to his office, and that was when he worked at the one 15 minutes away.  In April they moved him to one an hour away, and now they're doing it again. Huh?
