Zip. I have a nice camera and I or DH will do them ourselves, will they be professional grade pictures? No. But they will be pictures, and I'm sorry but I'm too cheap to shell out money for something I can do myself. I'll have the memories and that's what counts, I don't care if it wouldn't win any photography awards.
The photographer doing our session charges a flat fee of $100. Mainly because she is just starting out and she is a friend of a friend. But she does amazing work, and I can't wait to have our LO photographed with all of the props and outfits I have been buying!
For my 1st I was a single mom and didn't have the money. I was so blessed because my momma has a great Cannon camera and took a ton of pics for me through those first weeks. With this LO we are looking at a "friend of a friend" who does an 1 1/2 long session, full edit, burns to disc and you get the full rights for $150. We will do newborn, sibling and a few family pics probably. I haven't done full research on it though so I want to compare to some other places to make sure we arent getting ripped off. I didn't do prof maternity pics though so Im hoping hubby will agree its worth it!

I am paying $115 and that includes a disc with my digital photos. That is an awesome deal, and I did a lot of hunting around. This girl is relatively new starting out so her prices are really good. Other photogs in the area charge upwards of $400 just for the sitting fee and then you have to pay for each print individually or another $200-300 for the disc if that's how you want to go.
My photographer charges $250 for the in home session, and that includes later sessions at 3 months and 6 months, and 1 year. Of course the photos cost $$ when you purchase them, and digital images are $75. But I think it is worth the money to get high quality images that are artistic.
Beautiful Miracle Baby lost at 21 weeks due to pre-term labor and incompetent cervix. FET#1 BFN, FET#2 BFP, early loss. FET#3 BFN. IVF#2 BFFN. FET #4 BFP after removing bilateral hydrosalpinx and 3 months of lupron depot. Sticky Bun is here!!
Nothing. We debated it but it's so much money and we have a professional camera so we're going to do them ourselves! My mom will be here the first week so we're just going to get creative! We did my maternity pictures ourselves and they turned out awesome!
$75 for an hour at our house. I have a coupon from when my siblings and I did family pictures back in June and our photographer is just starting out, but I was happy with her work from our first session together. Along with the sitting fee, we also get editing/re-touching and a CD with all the rights.
None to a pro, but I do have over $4k worth of camera equipment/lenses and all the props (beanbag, lights, backdrop stand/different backgrounds, blankets, etc) so I will be doing them myself. I did my sister's and some for friends, so I'm more than confident in doing my own.
$199 for am in-studio session with a few prints. We can buy the disc with rights to the images for an additional $99. They would come to our house for an additional $150. We aren't 100% sure that's who we are going to use, but I like the work they have posted on their website and some photographers in the area are just way out there on their prices, IMO.

Maybe ask around and see if there are any student photographers in your area. Or check out Groupon or Living Social to see if there are any photography specials running. Any of your friends have a good eye through the lens? Or borrow a camera and follow some basic composition rules:
soft, natural light is best (overcast day or window light)
short depth of field (a lot of cameras have a Portrait setting, use this)
remember the details (close-ups on little feet are presh!)
We'll probably do our own. I have a family friend photographer who I love that lives out of town. She'll do some around Christmas, but before then, we'll be on our own.
DH gave me money for a Coach diaper bag, but instead I'll use that money on LO pics. We know a good photographer and she's a good friend of our family. Her prices are reasonable

we paid $3000 for our wedding pics and we havent even ordered them yet.
so I plan to pay 25cents to develop a few of them, the rest will stay on FB.

This exactly.
We're on the higher side. $350 for a sitting fee and then minimum $500 on pics afterwards.
I also have a nice camera to catch my own photos as well!
