my intended mom called me this afternoon because she needed to vent... the RE's office called her today and told her she owes $16,000. yes. three zeros. and i'm not even knocked up yet. we're so irritated with them because they said my OB here could do the monitoring ultrasounds and OH WAIT, nevermind, i have to go to houston (the RE) for the first one. they told her today my appt is going to be about 2k. my OB would do it for $400. i feel like they are trying to rip her off and it sucks. the agency owner that we went through is going to get into it with the accounts manager tomorrow, and i hope she can get something done for my intended mom. apparently they are charging her more because she "independently" (from the RE's office) found her surrogate and egg donor. BIG side eye.

    Wow! That is awful!  It should not matter if it was indepentant, how did they want you to do it?

    i guess this RE's office has their own pool of surrogates and egg donors and they wanted her to pick from those? but she didn't like any of them so she found me and her egg donor through other avenues.

    Bless her heart, that's unbelievable. I agree, it doesn't seem like her choosing a donor and surrogate independently should incur all the extra charges.
