I recently posted about using the name Mae and asked for suggestions on a middle name. We were liking Christine, but also loved some suggestions for "A" names such as Abigail and Amelia. I am torn now since these names would create the initials MAD. I would love some opinions...would I be crazy to do this to my child?

My best friend growing up had two middle names so her initials were REAR. She had quite the personality though & just used it as an interesting conversation piece which turned out to be pretty amusing with her wit.
I agree with the ladies above, MAD isn't inappropriate

With initials, it depends on how bad they are...
MAD isn't a big deal, I don't think.
I only rule out obscene initials. But DH's name is BJ, so that one doesn't bother me so much.
I mentioned liking the combination Mary Alice (Mary is a family name and Alice is DH's favourite girl name) today, but DH ruled it out because the initials would be MAN. I might avoid that combination as well.

My initials growing up were HEC. The only one who picked on me about it was my mother. She'd tell people all the time, "well I shoulda known she was goin' to be a hellion when we had already named her and realized her initials spell HEC." Got so old.
I think as long as it doesn't spell something embarrassing, it's fine. One of my high school teachers told me, "At least your initials aren't G.I.Z., like mine..."
Now my initials spell HER, and who's going to make fun of HER.
Well, mine are VD - that was a bit embarassing in high school but became a lot funnier as the years went on... i have a friend who only calls me by my initials. Gotta love her!!
