Puffs melt a lot faster than Cheerios, so we've been giving puffs starting around 6 months, and once we move on to more solid foods, I'll give her Cheerios, too. I just want her to be able to chew her food first.

When DS1 was a baby, once in a while I would put a few Cherrios on the high chair tray in front of him. When he was old enough to pick them up and put them in his mouth, I figured he was old enough to eat them. That's my plan for DS2 as well.

We started puffs about a week ago. So far Ty hsnt quite figured out how to eat him on his own and when we give them to him he makes a face lol. No cheerio's yet, they do not melt fast enough.
The pedi told us no puffs or melts until seven months. We just tried both today, two days shy of seven months. If you read the containers of most of them (I.e. I have the Happy Baby organic ones) they say you should have a crawler to try them. Mine does not crawl, but that is why we waited to try it at the pedi rec time instead of rushing it.
R has been eating puffs and Mum Mums from about six months.

DS loves puffs, I always put a small handful on his Highchair 2 times a day (while I am preparing his meals etc) and he just grabs em and gobbles em up. He's gotta alot better at actually getting them in his mouth now too lolol!
