Cali Jo & Bentley Adam

My cousin is due with her first baby February 25th. She had an ultrasound yesterday and it looks like she's having a girl. Her name will be Cali Jo (Cali is for our Great-Aunt Callie, who passed away in 2001). Just in case it turns out to be a boy, his name will be Bentley Adam.

I don't mind Cali, but spelled CALLIE. People might mispronounce it as CAYLEE. Not a fan of Bentley (I agree with the rest of the ladies... too Teen Mom-ish and trendy).

I don't know why she changed the spelling of Callie. I MUCH prefer it spelled Callie. Cali makes me think of what some people call California. I really like Cali, only if it's spelled "correctly". Her mom is the one who told me the names, so I'm hoping she might have gotten the spelling wrong or my cousin will change it. I asked if she got Bentley from 16 & Pregnant/Teen Mom, but they never said. I'm sure she did though. I like Bentley, but for a pet only. Jo and Adam are just names they like.

I also think Bentley is a pets name! Everytime I hear I either think Teen Mom or dog. I do love Callie though!

I grew up in a small hick town with one stoplight and where cows outnumbered people 10:1. There were two... TWO... girls named Callie Jo in my school. I basically think buck teeth, braids and wranglers when I think of this name. *shudder*

Bentley is a car. Not a human. Were the parents hoping he'd be an Ivy League grad or a vehicle? Either way, the name is stupid.

Adam is a nice name. At least "Bentley" has a name to fall back on. Poor Cali...

I actually really like Bentley, and the original spelling of Callie. IMO, I've always thought if you're naming someone after someone else, you should spell it the same way. I also think of our old barn cat when I think of the name Callie.. it's nms but a very nice name

I really like Cali Jo, but I would make the name Calista or something. I could never just do "Cali" or "Callie". They seem like nicknames and not really names. But Calista Flockhart kind of ruines that name for me. (DS would have been Cassandra -- Cassie.)
