Trying to Get Pregnant

What "counts" as green tea?

I am still not pregnant (obviously) and have decided to start drinking green tea to improve my cervical mucus. Anyway, I was wondering what really "counts" as green tea? (Stupid question!) Obviously, English Breakfast Tea and other black teas are not green teas, but what about peppermint tea? Peppermint is technically green, but would that be a herbal tea, not a green tea? Is green tea really only the sort of tea that one can buy in a Chinese restaurant? Are "blends" okay? (For instance I have a tea from Trader Joe's that is called "Candy Cane Green Tea" that is delicious...)

Thanks for your help! I have to admit, sometimes I feel VERY silly asking these types of questions, but I have only ever found you all to be very helpful. I am not sure where the TTGP "reputation" comes from! (Unless, maybe, I were to ask if I were supposed to drink the green tea or pour it into my vagina- but in that case I would definitely deserve to be teased!)

Doing a bit of a post-and-run (I have to get to work), but I will check back later!

  • I drink the Bigelow Green Tea...

It dont' have very strong flavor, so most of the times I feel like I am just drinking warm water.

  • Green tea will be clearly labeled as Green tea.  Sometimes it might have other flavors involved, but it will always be labled green tea.  You can also look at the ingredients, and green tea leaves should be the first one.  Peppermint, chamomile, orange, etc. are generally herbal teas, and Earl Gray, Chai, etc. are black.  There are also red and white teas.  HTH.

  • The "Candy Cane Green" tea lists peppermint leaf as the first ingredient, and decaffeinated green tea as the second- then a bunch of other stuff. Will that count, or would you recommend finding something with green tea as the first ingredient?

I will look for "regular" green tea next time I am out, but I have to say that I don't love it, which is why I really enjoy this blend from Trader Joe's.

I am also trying to increase my liquid intake as well.

    Thank you.

  • I am sure the peppermint stuff is fine.  I have the Lipton Purple Acai and Blueberry Green Tea, and the Lipton Cranberry Pomegranate Green Tea, and I love them both.  The flavor is pretty mild. I add a tiny bit of Stevia, and it is delicious.  I also brew a bunch of tea bags at the same time, and put them in the fridge for iced tea.  Delicious!

  • I drink Green Tea all the time because I love it (I have stopped in the 2ww now) and have always had lots of EWCM. I'm not saying it's because of the Green Tea, but I've never not drank it to know. Also, if you drink 2 glasses of Green Tea a day, you are drinking 2 more glasses of water a day (because tea is basically water, esp. if it's decaffeinated), and maybe that's all you need to produce more CM. It's a good way to get more hydration if you love the taste. If you don't like it, it's probably not worth the time.

  • I used to drink green tea religiously because this board recommended it, but most of the green teas I don't like. Also, I have grown sick of it now that I'm on cycle seven. So now I only drink the Tazo "Zen" tea which is green tea and spearmint and let me tell you, it is GOOD! I'd drink it even if I weren't trying to get KU!
