My poor little guy is having trouble & I don't know what to do?
At 3.5 months, he was having horrible diarrhea that was mucousy, and smelled like acid. (It gave him the worst diaper rash I have ever seen). Pedi wanted to see if the diarrhea would pass, so after 2 weeks, they tested for everything & got back a + test for reducing substances. (Confirming an allergy). He was also loosing weight during this time & was only 12lb3oz at 4 months.... We put him on soy. Same thing... We put him on Similac Alimentum & had about 5 amazing days & back to being miserable again, loose stools (not as bad). I just took him back in & at 5.5 months he had only gained 10oz... Pedi wants him to go for 2 more weeks & will re-test his stool? GRRRRR! I hate to switch Dr's now because it will be a longer wait to transfer records & repeat the same tests. I just want my baby to be pain free & grow ![]()
This happened to my husband when he was a baby & was completely different on goat milk. The fear of using it is related to the lack of B-Vitamins & Folic Acid, so I wondered which vitamins you also gave? Where did you get the milk? Did you dilute it or prepare it differently? TIA!!! ![]()
Re: Anyone use goat milk when formula still caused allergy?
My friend used goats milk when she stopped breastfeeding at 7 months and her son did awesome. My mom also used goats milk when my sister had an allergy to her breast milk and it worked good as well! Fred meyers has a goat milk formula where the only ingredient is dehydrated goats milk
I don't know about the goat's milk. My LO is sensitive to dairy and soy so I can't have those. I did ask the Pedi about goat's milk and he says the proteins are still very similar. Maybe it's worth a try, though...maybe they're just different enough to give him some relief.
We use Poly-Vi-Sol.
We are having this same issue (blood/diarrhea that won't go away) but we are EBFing with tons of diet changes for now. The process for us is slow too so I don't think it's just your Dr.
What about just trying Elecare or Neocate? Will your insurance not cover it?
