1st Trimester

I hate the hcg wait game and please share your numbers

1st beta came back at 2953 from yesterday afternoon. I go tomorrow morning for 2nd blood draw. Based on lmp. I think I am 6 weeks tomorrow. I know the number means nothing alone but I thought it would be higher. I should be a pro bc this will be #3 but I am so nervous this time. U/S is Monday.

Anyone have similar beta around 5 weeks 5 days and go on to a healthy pregnancy?

  • Mine were 6453 at 22 DPO and 21000 at 24 DPO. The ranges are soooooo big. Your number sounds fine though. I thought mine were kind of high.

  • I got my BFP on the 19th and went in that day for my betas which came back at 232.  On Friday they were 927, so they were doubling exactly every 48 hours as they should.  Had another test this past Tuesday which came back at four thousand something - so doubling quicker than 48 hours (slightly).  However, you REALLY can't compare your numbers to other people's because there is SO much variance.  Look at https://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html.  What is important is if YOUR numbers are doubling at a reasonable rate.  Your numbers do not sound low to me, though, and your doctor would have told you if he/she was concerned with them.  I'm sure you are just fine!  Wait until your next blood draw, and as long as your number goes up at a reasonable rate, things are all good!

  • Mine are in my siggy but are considered really low and I'm considered high m/c risk because of it

Mine is lower than yours. Mine is b/w 24 and 25dpo. I guess I will know a lot more tomorrow but if yours is considered low, I am worried.

  • My betas have been low with each blood draw. They increase but do not double. I'm being watched very carefully but the ultrasound at 6w4d showed a strong heartbeat. Betas can drive you nutty, just think positively.

edit: Mine around 5 weeks 4 days was 3500. So I was close to yours. Hang in there

  • I was about 7.5 when I had the two #s drawn (I didn't realize how far along I was and had bleeding). They were 62k on the first draw and 93k on the second (3 days later). The OB said it's normal for them to not double in that time frame when you get that high.  With my first pg, at 5 weeks, my first draw was 11k and the second was about 19k (two days later).

It's not the numbers themselves being low - both of you are in the normal range in terms of numbers.  As previously said, it's about their doubling rate.  It doesn't appear that hers are doubling every 48 hours.  There is also a point (I foget what, though) that they get so high that it takes longer than 48 hours to double.  Best of luck on both of your pregnancies!  Keep positive - I know it can be tough during this trying first trimester.

  • 6000 is the point after which it may take 72 or more hours to double. Please don't worry, both numbers look ok. Baby needs you to be stress free.

  • Mine were lower than yours too, so I considered myself a high m/c risk, but doesn't that change once you've seen a strong heartbeat and a properly sized baby on ultrasound?

    Mine were:

    14dpo 48

16 dpo 77 (70-hour doubling time -- I was sure this would be a chemical pg)

21 dpo 496 (slightly faster than 48-hour doubling time from 16dpo onward)

    27 dpo 4209
