Have you ever called off work for a personal day?

So we are moving in 1 week. Having time to pack has been hard with a full time job an toddler plus my husband is in school before i go to work. So the only time I can pack is before work which is hard with a toddler. I am on call today. So i am not sure if I will work or not. Anyways I only have 2 days off between now and move day. I work this weekend also 12 hours each day. Part of me wants to call off but then I feel guilty. The usually call hour before my shift starts to let me know if I am working. WWBOTBD?

    Can you get someone to cover your shift?  Can you get someone to watch your LO?

    I have tried to get coworkers to cover my shift but no wants to. We are all a little burnt out. No one to watch DD until 3:30pm. I work 3-11 and DH goes to school 8am-2pm. So we don't have daycare

    I did before I had kids.  Since having kids I don't because all my paid time off is sucked up by sick days for them or maternity leave.

    No, but in my job..me calling in screws my coworkers making the hospital short staffed or someone forced over...so if I'm scheduled, I work

    I would if it's just one day. When we move, I am planning to take a day off...although I will have it scheduled. Moving sucks and it feels like you are never done.

    At the end of my pregnancy, I took a personal day to do some cleaning and stuff.  I was just overwhelmed and needed to focus.  IMO - That's why they're there.  use them.

    H and I have a similar schedule.  My mom fills in the gaps once in awhile.

    Yup. Not often, but if I'm so stressed that my mind is elsewhere while I'm at work, I'm not really doing anyone any favors by being there. I would call off so they can get someone in there for you.
