Effacement?

in 3rd Trimester

I know that you can walk around dilated for a long time, is it the same with effacement?

For example, I've heard that you can walk around for weeks 3cm dilated. If you are 70% effaced is it the same concept or is effacement more likely to put you into labor rather than dilation?

    I have been walking around 50% effaced for weeks now. So, I think it's the same concept.

    I was 70% effaced since 36 weeks.. went a week overdue.

    Both of my pregnancies I was dilated and about 80% effaced for the last few weeks of pregnancy. With both children I was induced past my due date. 10 days late with my DD and 4 days late with my DS. It really doesn't matter what you are. You can be nothing and go into labor or be like me 4 cm and 80% effaced for weeks and never go into labor on your own.

    Yep!  I was 90% effaced and 1 cm dialated for three weeks with my last baby.

    Well im 90%effaced and dialated to a 2......got checked on tuesday....still here!!! :)

    same concept.  i was 3&1/2cm dilated and 90% effaced last week at my ob appt.  i'm still pg.  lol

    At my 34 week appt I was 1 cm dilated and 10% effaced, yesterday at 35 wks 2days I was 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. So I had a change in my cervix within 1 week.

    Please keep in mind that every pregnant woman is different. Just because 10 other women may walk around dilated/effaced at a certain number for weeks, doesn't mean you will be the same way.
