My DH and I have decided that we are ready to have a child

. I had Mirena in for 2 1/2 years and just had it taken out in August. We have had unprotected sex since then. I told myself that I would not get crazy about being pregnant or getting pregnant unless it was like a year and we still were TTC. I know it has only been a month and a half but I think about it all the time and whether or not I could be pregnant. If something feels the slightest bit off I think "I wonder if I am pregnant". I can't help it!! I want it to happen naturally without us having to plan what time, where, and what position it will be in, but at what point do I get an ovulation test, or a fertility test, or anything that better helps me predict when is the best time?? I feel like everyone around me is having a baby or getting pregnant and that drives me crazy too!! Any advise??
Re: When is it too soon??
When you start tuning into the best time to BD is really up to you... I'd start with charting before going to ovulation kits. Plus, if you've been on hormonal BC, charting would be a good idea just to find out if/when you're ovulating anyway.
GL!
I had the same outlook as you (we got married in July and decided that as soon as we got married we would have unprotected sex-I wasn't on the pill). Someone said to me that it will make you more crazy to just kind of go with the flo and hope for the best because if I really want a baby I will be so disappointed every month that AF shows up. This person suggested I figure out if I really want to TRY to get pregnant or not care that I get pregnant so I thought about it and realized that I really did want to get pregnant. I went and bought Ovulation tests that day and started to figure out my cycle and read a lot of info about TTC.
So my advice is first figure out how you will feel about not getting pregnant. If you decide that it is what you really do want then start learning about your body and cycle and go buy the OPKs. You don't have to be "we must have sex at this time on this day in this way" about it, but just find out about your cycle. Hope this helps and GL!
This is our fifth cycle and I must say the first two cycles were the hardest. It was on my mind all the time, having a ton of phantom symptoms. So far this month I have had almost zero, so it does (at least in my case) get better.
At first I had no interest in charting. Like you, I wanted it to just happen without being stressed about when to have sex and be obsessive. However I just started charting recently because I would like to know if I am even ovulating. So while it is a plus to know good times to BD, it's more reassuring to me to at least know that I am ovulating.
Try not charting for a few cycles if you don't want to and you can always start after several cycles if you feel like you want to.

nope..but I think that some women may have some advice. ; )
Honestly, if you're asking about when you should start charting and using OPK's, you're probably ready to start. I would start with OPK's and then move to charting later. Charting is great but I personally don't think it's necessary unless you think you might have an issue with your cycles (they're longer than 36 days or shorter than 26). Otherwise, I'd start with OPK's for the first 3 months, and if by then you're not pregnant, I would start charting.
GL
I just want to respond to this because, of course it is a personal decision whether or not to chart, but it can be difficult to rely on just OPK alone. I get many false positives (and I believe this happens to many women) so had I not been charting to confirm O I would have completely missed my fertile window if I went with OPK alone. I know everyone's different, but temping/charting has been much easier and less stressful for me. A temp shift confirms everything for me. GL
I beg to differ. Lots of people have shorter LP's and an average 28-ish day cycle. Mine is usually 28-30 days with a 9 day LP. I'd miss my window every month if I didn't chart.
Also, to the OP: Charting IS natural.
