omg I've missed this board!!! Its been a very long and difficult two weeks without you ladies!
I tried to shorten the story....but it's still crazy long!
2 Wednesdays ago...the 14th, DH and I were driving to our first hospital tour. We were stopped at a red light at an intersection and were hit from behind by another car. The woman never even hit the breaks...she hit us going around 30mph.
After the impact DH's neck was really hurting and my lower back was killing me. I was hysterical crying...all I could think about was the baby...the cop kept asking if I was OK, and I just kept saying "I'm pregnant...I don't know if my baby's ok".
When we got to the hospital I was brought right to L&D and hooked up to monitors. Thank God they found LO's heartbeat right away...but I was also having strong contractions. They decided to keep me and monitor to me at least until the next day. I was having contractions all night and couldn't sleep. The only thing that got me through was LO kicking the crap out of me! At least I knew he/she was moving. But I was also antsy for an u/s...I was worried about my fluid levels, the placenta..etc. The nurses told me I had to wait to see the Dr. in the am.
The next morning they sent me for u/s (measured cervical length, checked LO, measured fluid level, etc), internal exam and fetal fibronectin test. Everything came back fine, so they decided to keep me another night just to observe . Throughout the day my contrax were getting regular and a little painful. They said they needed to slow/stop them, so they gave me procardia to relax my uterus. It worked and everything slowed down.
I was sent home the next afternoon on strict bedrest instructions.
That night I woke up at 3am with bad cramping, back pain and pain in my upper thighs (all signs of pre-term labor according to the books). I called the Dr. and she said go straight back to the hospital. When I got there they hooked me back up and I had to wait for the Dr. She ordered an internal u/s right away to see if my cervix was changing due to the contrax. They found that I had gone from 3.1 to 2,4 in a little more than a day. Not good.
So, I have been on bedrest at the hospital since then. Everything has stayed pretty much stable, though I am still getting contractions pretty often. LO has never been so active...that helps me so much through the long days.
They let me come home today on strict bedrest for the forseeable future!
I get another internal u/s Friday afternoon to see what my cervix looks like. I'm just praying it hasn't gotten any shorter or I will probably be spending the rest of my pregnancy in the hospital.
Well....missed you ladies!  It will probably take a week for me to catch up to everything I have missed! Hope all is well. Will keep you updated ![]()
Oh! I made DH PROMISE to let me bring the laptop in to the hospital if I have to be re-admitted. I was going insane without it!
Re: back from 2 weeks in L&D - super LONG
OMG supper scary! I am glad everything is okay with your LO. Hopefully he/she stays in her safe home for at least a few more weeks.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks, me too!
She got a ticket for careless driving according to the police report. When DH jumped out of the car after the accident the first thing she said to him was - " how do you want to handle this?" DH Flipped out...he started screaming that I was 7 months pregnant etc and she never even asked if we were OK.
We got a typed letter in the mail 2 days later from her husband asking if we could settle this without the insurance. Never mentioned DH and I and if we were OK...and they had been notified that I was hospitalized. The least they could do was ask how we are doing.
Now because of her I can't work, I am totally helpless (need family to bring me food, clean for me -just about everything) and am fighting to keep my baby inside of me because of this. It's just so upsetting.
They are holding off on the steriod shots until they measure my cervical length Friday. That will determine if I get to stay home on bedrest or back to L&D. If it's shortened they will monitor me, baby and the contrax...and decide when/if to give the steroids.
Everything is so up in the air right now. I'm just focusing on Friday right now and see what they say.
Thanks for the positive vibes!
That's ridiculous. I'd be more than upset. Do they want to settle it without insurance because they have none?

OMG... I'm glad you are doing alright now. Definitely try to stay rested and don't stress about not working or anything. The ony thing that really matters is that you and baby are fine!
I have no words for people like the lady who hit you. I hope they get a nice lawsuit.
