My boyfriend and I decided to name our son Roman. But my family has already starting calling him romeo for a nickname. Would that bother you?
Also, we're trying to come up with a list of names to have at the hospital incase we change our minds when we see him. The only other name we can agree on is Rylan. What do you think of this name? And whats a good middle name to go with it? TIA.
Re: Would this bother you?
it wouldnt bother me, i come up with crazy names for my little one!!
Rylan is nice too, my first thoughts are Rylan Alexander or Rylan Christopher
GL!
Roman is awesome. Romeo is kinda cute. I don't know that I'd want people outside the family calling him that though.
As for Rylan... I hate it. Sorry.... hope you stick with Roman.

Romeo is an awesome nickname!! No, that wouldnt bother me. I might be inclined to call him that myself.
Rylan is not a good name.
This.
Roman is so much better than Rylan.
Ditto all of this. Love Roman ! I don't think it would bother me because Romeo is a cute nn for like grandma to call the baby, as long as they called him Roman out in public
The Romeo nickname would really tick me off. If I wanted to name my child a nickname then that's what would go on their birth certificate.
I'm not sure how I feel about Rylan, because I can see a lot of people calling him Ryan when he introduced himself. But I do like Rylan Alexander as a PP has suggested
For some reason that def. would bother me.. I would hate to give a boy nn Romeo
Roman is a very nice strong male name-- I would just be insistant on correcting them right from the start.. I don't really care for Rylan but I love Ryan or Dylan
All of this. If your family is a family of nick namers, you won't be able to avoid a nn for your DS. I would just politely ask that they call him Roman in public, I should think that your family would gladly do that.

Roman > Rylan. Rylan sounds like you couldn't decide between Ryan and Dylan.
Next time they say something, tell them to knock it off.

I would just inform your family that his name is Roman.
Roman is a million times better than Rylan so I hope you stick with it!
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I think Romeo is a completely adorable nickname for Roman.
I also like Roman much better than Rylan.
This..amd I would not be happy with the nn Romeo..I would correct them right away!
Aren't nicknames supposed to be fewer syllables than the actual name? If you don't like it and were planning on a different NN then I'd say something.
If you don't mind it or are just unsure because someone else picked it, just say "We'll decide on a NN when he gets here."
