I can't find a onesie anywhere that is the right color for E's halloween costume. I need a teal one because she's going to be a peacock. I think I'm just going to dye it myself. Anyone ever dye their own clothes? Is the dye safe for LO? I can't imagine it would be harmful as long as I wash it well but I've never done it. Thoughts? Where do I even buy it?

I've dyed lots of clothes for LO. There is an organic dye they sell at Hobby Lobby that I use.

In the past I've bought the tie dye kits just because you get several colors and sometimes it's fun to tie dye. The kit runs about $20. I'm not positive but I believe they sell the individual dye for around $5 - again I'm not 100% sure but I believe I remember seeing that.

I also meant to post - have you seen the Carters onesie that says "my heart is grandmas" or something like that - it's teal and long sleeve. Maybe could work?

It doesn't cover it. I considered it but I really want a plain onesie. I looked everywhere, Carters, Gymboree, Old Navy, Target, Zulily, Etsy, Google, then I got desperate and even looked at Wal-Mart. Frustration.

I love those onesie solids packs---I use them ALL the time. Plus they have two lengths on them, so she will get a lot of use from them. I just wish they were in long sleeve as well.

Does it have to be teal? This website has customizable long sleeved onesies in royal blue or navy (or chocolate brown)- just don't put anything in the text field and get a plain one.

I have some prefolds that are dyed with regular old RIT dye and it's been fine on Ben's skin. He isn't a rashy baby though.

American Apparel and H&M have plain teal colored onesies.
