TMI question regarding blood...

I am on day 19 of pp.  Still bleeding lightly, but my question is:

Did any of you have a foul smelling odor in the blood?  Mine is awful...I have to hose down the bathroom with Glade right after I change my pads so that DH can even walk in.  I would think it can't be an infection since I don't have a fever or any other symptoms and haven't had sex in about 10 months...

My Mom is here and she said that her C-section was the same way.  That my body is cleaning itself out after 9 months of not having a period.  Correct??

I have a call into the OBGYN to find out if anything could be wrong.  Pretty scared!

    I will go out on a limb and answer you... I had some odor but it wasn't horrendous. Are you still using a peri wash to keep things clean down there when you go to the bathroom? That might help?

    I never had a horrible smell.  I know *sometimes* foul smells can indicate an infection.  You might want to call your OB just to make sure its not an infection.

    Will do - yes, still using the peri wash and it is very offensive.

    I will call the doctor tomorrow.  Thank you ladies!

    definitely call the Dr.

    I haven't bleed since before we left the hospital, but any odor that strong would make me concerned.

    Has your DH truly said the odor is that strong?  I ask only because it may seem that strong to you, but may not really be.  I would say mine has an odor a bit different than a period, but nothing that offensive.  I'm curious how this ends up turning out.  Good luck!

    I am really glad someone else posted about this.  I too have noticed a really gross odor when changing my pads. And it is NOT a cleanliness issue, I assure you!

    It started about 10 days PP and I still have it- though not as strong as it was. The blood has also changed from  red blood to this sorta yellowy discharge ( sorry TMI). I went back to my doctor  last week because I was afraid I had an infection - but since I didn't have any symptoms ( fever or pain or itching ect) he said not to worry and that it is the last of the uterine lining sloughing off combined with the change in hormones changing the pH of your uterus..., but yeah.... it is disgusting and I keep hoping it will go away soon.

    I think if you are worried, it wouldn't hurt to talk to your doc - but my guess is that it is just the same as what my doc told me.
