Crockpot question (Mollusk don't come in here)

So I have crockpot lasagna cooking right now.  The last time I made it, I accidentally cookied it on high for 6ish hours and it got dry.  Today, I put it on around 1pm on low, but it seems to be already done.  Can I turn it off and reheat it in the crock pot when it's time to eat?

I obviously cook in a crock pot because I have no idea how to cook.  Someone should've just told me to make a frozen pizza tonight.

  • I don't know how to use a crockpot on my own.

  • Do you have a keep warm setting? Otherwise I'd jut turn it off. I would think it'd stay warm if you left it in there but off.

  • yes you can! I'm not sure how low your crock pot goes... but mine has a keep warm setting and I usually leave it on that until we're ready to eat. Or you could turn it off and it will keep warm for a long time too
  • I only use my crockpot for cooking venison or a chicken noodle soup. Never heard of crockpot lasagna before.

  • My crockpot is an old hand-me-down (technically I found it in our house when we moved in, weeee free crockpot!!!) and only has low and high.  I'll just turn it off then.  If magical unicorns start jumping out of there when I turn it back on later, I'm blaming you betches.

  • I eat unicorns for breakfast. I don't know how they would end up in your crock pot.
  • Can you just transfer the lasagna to a casserole dish? That is what I would do if I didn't have a warm setting. Then you can re-heat it in the oven.

Now that's just asking way too much out of me....

  • oh... and s/o crock pots (I just posted this on another thread) but we ate this last night and it was 100% delish:

It was quite possibly the easiest thing I've ever made and H was in heaven eating it.

I substituted the refrigerated biscuit dough for frozen egg noodles - this is the brand I used and they are SO freaking good

Dude, get your asss to WalMart and buy a new crockpot. I bought an awesome one with two low settings and two high settings and it even has a warm setting. It was only $30!

Blaming?  If magical unicorns jumped out, I think you'd owe someone a thank you!

  • Yes, turn it off. My cp doesn't have a warm setting so I just shut it and it stays warm for an extra hour or two depending. And yes, I have turned it back on as well. Works fine.

I need a new crockpot and skillet (I don't have one of those to begin with).  No one ever told me you can't cook good meals with a tiny baking dish, a frying pan, and an old crockpot.

Shut the front door!! You don't even have a skillet? What have you been eating? I would die, DIE if I didn't have my fully equipped kitchen. We'd be eating out of foil pockets on the grill every night.

OOH, we have a grill... that doesn't even have grates on it.  So we don't grill.  But I MIGHT have a George Foreman?  We eat a lot of sandwiches around here.  I swear, I TRY to cook cool things that don't involve a lot of kitchen gadgets.

  • Dude, a skillet is not a kitchen gadget! A gadget is a garlic press or a nutmeg grater. A skillet is a kitchen staple.

Agree with PP. How do you exist without a skillet? Reminds me of a home decorating show where the lady didn't cook so she kept her shoes and purses in her kitchen. Blows.my.mind.
