I had my 28 week appt/scan this morning. Anna is measuring 2 weeks ahead and looks great! She is in the 95th percentile for legs (super long since DH is 6'5" and I am 5'11") and 89th percentile overall! She weighs 3 lb. 1 oz.
My Doctor also informed me that I will be induced at 39 weeks due to chronic hypertension and a predisposition to preclempsia. I am on Lobetolol now (max dose), and my BP is being managed... however she anticipates it going up. If it does spike, Anna could come earlier than 39.
I expected an early delivery, but today made it so real! It was crazy that she actually gave me a date, and I know for sure she'll be here early.
Has anyone else had this happen from high bp?
Re: So I guess I'm being induced a week early....
This is bitter sweet I bet. Its exciting because you know when you're going to finally see your little girl for the first time but it must be rough with the high bp.
Its crazy that we are all getting to that point that our doctors can give us more a better estimate to when our babies will be here.
I haven't been induced before, but asked my OB at my last appt. if he would induce me at 39 weeks if my body was ready (cervical changes, etc.). He said he would do it at 39 weeks, but no sooner unless absolutely necessary. I have GD for the 2nd time, DD1 was 7lb 12.5 oz., but there is always concern for a big baby with GD.
It's very exciting to "know" when your baby will arrive!
It was VERY exciting to know! I kind of wanted to cry (hormones). I'm a total planner, but I know I can't plan her arrival, so this was pretty great. Of course, I wish I didn't have the risk of the high bp... but my dr. is very sharp and proactive and I trust her 100%. I start my appts. every 2 weeks now (yay!), and I check my bp at home daily.
I took my GD test today as well, so I'll know Friday if I have it. The test wasn't bad at all.... but I was so nervous about it I woke up at 3:30 am. Yuck!!
I am so excited to meet her, I just cannot stand it!!!
My baby has super long legs also. At my last scan @ 25 weeks she was measuring in the 65th percentile total and her legs were measuring two weeks ahead. I am 5' 8" but my dad is 6' 4" and DH is 6' 1". I'll get another growth scan soon to monitor her size.
So far I haven't had any BP issues, but it wouldn't surprise me if I did.
I hope things continue to go good for you. Congrats on getting a date set.
With DD I was induced at 39 weeks because I developed a pregnancy related rash called PUPPS. Not anything that was dangerous to me or the baby, but was REALLY uncomfortable. I did not thing this was even a possibility for this pregnancy, and out of the blue at my appointment last Friday my doctor told me that as long as my cervix looked like it was ready, she would be happy to schedule an induction at 39 weeks+ so that she we could be the one to deliver this baby (there are 8 doctors in the practice, and she delivered my DD too).
As tempting as it is, I was kind of hoping that I'd be able to experience the "surprise" of natural labor and so DH and I are on the fence about it. We told her we would think about it and let her know.
Will baby #3 be another girl?
