Hi Ladies,
I am brand new to this board and brand new to IVF. I am 43, DH is 42. TTC for 6 months and then began testing at RMA in NJ. My results show lor (numbers not good - FSH 25 and then 19 and AMH very low at .16) and DH had low count w/ mobility issue. Plus I had one FT blocked and needed surgery to cut it. So IVF really only choice at this point. Neither of us have any children and I have never been pregnant.
Recommendation for us is to go straight to IVF, using ICSI, with freeze all cycles until we get to a decent # of embryos (RE said we would discuss appropriate # after we see how cycles go). PGD testing is also being highly recommended to check for chromosone abnormalities (genetic screening showed nothing for me and DH was a carrier for ZSS but the PGD would not be for single gene testing for ZSS since I am not a carrier). I am being told that the PGD would test to see the number of all 23 chromosones, looking for 23 pairs and the sex genes.
I have read some past posts regarding PGD, some were older and only a few recent. But I was still wondering if anyone else on here is in a similiar boat as I am and did you decide to do the PGD and Cryo? I know our chances are low for IVF working and RE says the PGD and Cryo are our best chance and of course I want to go with our best chance but the PGD and Cryo make me a bit nervous so any input would be great.
All of this is very scary, head is spinning trying to make the right decisions - it all gets a bit overwelming and I figured this would be the best place to look for some answers - and perhaps just vent and listen at times.
TIA for any info you can share.
Lisa

Welcome to the board!! I will also be starting IVF cycle soon. Good luck with your cycle.
Welcome to the board. I will also be doing an IVF cycle this month with RMA in NJ (Dr. Drews in Morristown). It was recommended to us to do the PGD but we opted not to mainly because we just can't afford the $4500. I know it would be helpful, but so would the $4500 that we don't have. My nurse said that it is perfectly fine not to do it, but they always recommend that option.
Who is your doctor at RMA?
Me: 36, DH: 42
Dx: DOR and MFI
DH: low count + very low motility; hormones all normal; Sperm DNA Frag. test = poor to fair; male karyotyping normal
Me: FSH 13.4 + AMH 0.26 + hypothyroidism; Scratch the hypothyrodism (?); Blood clotting and immune panel all negative; endometrial biopsy normal
