Doctor scared my baby!

Seriously. It turned out ok and is kinda funny now looking back on it but it was a bit scary at the time.

I went in for my 30 week appointment today and the doctor determined that the baby's heart rate was a bit high. So she put me on the fetal heart monitor for an extended period (20 minutes or so) so she could keep track of the baby's heart rate. At first, she couldn't even find it so she had to "buzz" my stomach. She used this little thing that made this buzzing sound, hoping to move the baby into the right position to actually find the heartbeat. It worked - too well. The baby's heartrate was through the roof and the doctor apologized for freaking out the baby.Sigh...

Luckily, everything calmed down and the doctor figured that she must have just caught the baby moving during the very first reading. Like I said, it was freaky for about 10 minutes but I'm just glad that the baby was able to calm down in the end. Big Smile

  • Poor baby.  At my last visit when my doc was dopplering he thought the HB was too low so he shook my belly to wake the baby up.  Heartrate went right up to normal.
