Babies: 6 - 9 Months

LO is throwing up everywhere! Help!

I took DD to the dr. today because she had thrown up twice between 7 and 9 AM.  (Once all over me and the carpet, ugh.)  He said it was a virus, to feed her a little formula at a time and call if it hadn't cleared up by tomorrow.  She has thrown up 2 more times since then.  Both times on a quilt I decided that I would keep her on while she was downstairs.  I mean, I can only wash so much!  Is this what you would do?  I just clean the area and put a towel over it.  It's so sudden, so I can't get her to a place like the sink in time.  Has anyone had any experience with this?  Do you have any tips?

  • Poor thing, I hope she feels better by tomorrow. I would keep a towel around and maybe keep it on her if you're so worried about getting puke everywhere.

ETA: I mean, keep her on the towel, not the towel on her. Excuse me, I'm going off of very little sleep over here!

This is a good idea.  She's taken out 1 of my outfits, three of hers, the carpet, her bed, the quilt...  She does okay if I feed her right before she falls asleep, but she's so active right now that if I feed her while she's up it comes back.  I wish I could find a way to keep her more calm.

  • is there anyway you can get some pedialyite?  is she puking every hour?  When DS had the stomach flu I kept him in a diaper and was surrounded with washcloths and burp cloths.  It got to the point where he was just dry heaving.  I started giving him pedialyite when he went over an hour without puking.  after that I'd give him an ounce of pedialyite every 20 minutes.  GL

  • Poor baby. If it continues much longer I'd call the pedi's office again. I'd be worried about dehydration. I hope she feels better soon!

  • When dd1 gets stomach viruses we put old sheets over all the rugs. (we have hardwood through out the house). At least makes the clean up a little easier.

That is a GREAT idea.  Thanks!
