Help with mani/pedi shopping list

Hey girls! So for my best friend's bachelorette party sleep-over thing, we're doing mani/pedis in the hotel room and I'm in charge of supplying the stuff. I need to make little mani/pedi kids. I know we need stuff like polish removed, cotton balls, and those toe separator things, but have any other ideas? Maybe a sugar scrub? Anyone have a recipe for a scrub they've used? I'm not a fan of pedis at all, so I honestly couldn't tell you what supplies to include in the kits. Halp!

Re: Help with mani/pedi shopping list

  • How about those little nail stickers? They would be a cute addition to the kits.

Edit: You could also just get a bunch of the Sally hansen salon effects prints https://www.google.com/products?q=sally+hansen+salon+effects&hl=en

  • I would get a heel buffer! Help scrub off the crust. Wink Nail decals are fun too. If you're doing paint, make sure you have top and basecoat. It'll really complete the look.

  • What a cute idea!  Maybe a nail file and some hand/body lotion.

  • What about clippers, scissors, nail buffer blocks, the French manicure pen things and the corrector pens? And a good base and top coat. I've never had a mani or pedi but I do like doing my own nails. :)

Brown sugar in olive oil is a good scrub but if you're going to wash off in the tub the oil can be slippery.

  • I think Sephora has a lot of those little mini bottles (a quite a few drug stores do too. Actually, I think a trip to a place like Walmart or Target will show a lot of great goodies you can get.

    When I do my own:

clippers, something to clean out under the nails (they have wooden sticks for this), remover, q-tips, polish, clear coat. Stickers are NMS but a great idea for the party.

Idea (don't laugh) getting cheap plastic kitten or small cal litter boxes to use as foot soaks and some scrubs/ foot soaks?

  • Ok...here's the rundown of what my manicurist uses on me - nail polish remover, cuticle remover (and those wooden sticks to push back cuticles once softened), sugar scrub, lotion (for massaging if you go that far), cuticle oil, alcohol (to remove oils from nail bed prior to applying polish - you could also just wash well with soap and water), toe seperators and nail polish (color and top coat). Oh - and cotton balls and q-tips for touching up stray paint. Sounds like fun!

  • The heel buffer is a good one, and what about nail polish pens, so you guys can make designs?  Sephora has a big nail art section, you could find some cute stuff there.

  • OKay, so I have some odd questions.

    1. If I was going to go and do my toe nails with people, I'd have them clipped and stuff already. Do I need to have enough clippers for everyone, or just a couple pairs, or are people like me in considering that an at-home step?

    2. Do you think it's better to do individual kits for each girl, or do a big basket of fun stuff (colors, decals, a couple different scrubs) and the essentials (cotton balls, the under-nail sticks, etc) for everyone to share? There are only 5 of us, so I don't think it would be too hard to share by just putting a basket in the center. Not to mention, individual baskets of everything for each person gets pricey

Sweetgotham - that foot soaker thing is a great idea.

    1. I'd go w/ my toes all clipped and ready too but who knows what others do so have a few pairs just in case

    2. I think you should do a large kit for everyone to share so people can pick and choose their colors, etc.

Super cute idea by the way.  Def get some wine and snacks involved in that little party!

Bring a few; assume nothing and you can get them for a dollar or something (also, check out dollar stores for some of this gear, like baskets)

I say baskets of fun...maybe themed? beachy, vamp, french manicure?

  • I agree that I's have my toes clipped already and I think a big basket for everyone to be share would be good especially since there are only 5 of you.  I went to a party like this once and the host had several shades of nailpolish and 2 bottles of base and top coat along with a few nail files but everything else we shared and ad no problem.  The body shop has a good peppermint foot scrub and lotion that we used and most people liked it.  Have fun and enjoy!!!

BTW the cat litter box idea is awesome!

  • I think you should go with a big basket of stuff. Yes

Also, you should get a really good, moisturizing foot cream to apply after the soak & heel buff.

    Have fun!!

  • I think you can get away with a big basket of fun stuff to share.  If you're skeeved out by sharing clippers, nail files, etc, you might want to look for those all-in-one travel kits.  I'm pretty sure I've seen them in the dollar store.
