I'm debating whether I truly have depression. I don't have scary thoughts of hurting anyone, but I do however feel down more often than I'm happy with. Do any of you new mommies feel like this? e.g. not very smiley or bubbly (this makes me sad, because I want to be this way). I haven't begun exercising yet, and hopefully it will make a difference in my outlook, but I wanted to reach out.
TIA
Re: blues? 6 wks post delivery
I have no advice but wanted to say that I hope you're feeling better soon.

Cute kids you all have :-)
Thank you for writing. Great to have support.
Hey Peppernut! Nice to hear from you NorCal lady. Did your birth go as expected? Forgive me for my lousy memory, except I do remember you were induced. Mine sure didn't go as planned. Went into labor after membranes were scraped (guess that did it?), and was in labor at the hospital trying to do natural, but I was having a terrible time, so I got an epi, then hours went by, I got a fever -babies hr went up too high for too long...then they wheeled me to OR for c/s. I'm sad I had to have that done, but of course I'm relieved baby was ok in the end, but went to NICU for 48 hrs.
I'm working P/t when I have hours -I'm a contractor. I have no time really to myself and my husband will be gone for 6 nights for business & that isn't helping to keep my spirits up. I really feel guilty for feeling blue, because I am lucky with all I have.
I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better now. How's your baby doing?
Well, I went in for the cervidil the night before my official induction, and that did it. I gave birth an hour and a half after my first contraction, again very painful, and med-free (partly because there was just no time, but I'll take it.)
It sounds like you really need an extra hand. I know how it feels when you feel like you should count your blessings, and you TOTALLY should, but babies are so overwhelming! Is there anyone you can call in for help? Even hiring a maid service to come in once every couple of weeks helps. I tend to try to do it all, and for the first month it was just way too hard, and my spirits were way down.. and that's with my sister in town. If I could help, I would...
Melisende's fine! She's a little chunker, too. I don't know how much she weighs now, but I bet it's a LOT. She was born at 8 pounds 6 oz, she regained her birthweight within 4 days, and she eats like an OGRE.
I recall feeling the same when DS was born. My FIL passed away 10 days DS was born, and DH was at his mom's house for the rest of his leave. Call a friend to come over and watch the baby while you rest for even a hour, get a cleaning service to come in, or have a grocery delivery service do the shopping for you. You do have to do it all, you just have to manage it all.
Congratulations, and I hope you're feeling better soon.
Thanks all :-) I am feeling better (yesterday & today). My husband is back home, and my mom has been coming over to help. I sure need the help when I'm trying to balance the house, and my p/t job from home. I know I will have some down days again, but alas I realize I don't think it's ppd. Going to the gym today with hubby, and am excited about that -hard to believe, but my body NEEDS it!!
Stay well & happy mommas
Thank you for your support!
Pepper, mine eats like an OGRE too! She doesn't take naps well during the day -always wants to be on the boob. At birth she weighed 8 lbs 13 oz, is a little over 10 now + has grown 2" in length. Oye! Growing too fast for mommy!!
