Baby #2 and PCOS

I would love to know what other experiences have been in this type of situation. So we are ttc #2. For #1, it took 14 months and the fertility specialist found that I had PCOS and put me on metformin and poof! I got prego immediately! So ttc #2 my ob/gyn said to contact her. So I did. Now I need to go in for an appointment and get lab work done (which is fine - I know they have to cover their bases) BUT it sounds like she just wants to do clomid! UG - I'm so frustrated right now I could spit. Clomid didn't work last time. The appointment is on Thursday and I'm already preparing my argument and afraid they won't listen and I will have to go thru this all over again.  I have PCOS - why can't we just do what we did last time? Maybe she will listen but the nurse's voicemail didn't sound too convincing.  I'm so afraid that she won't give me metformin (which also reduces miscarriage rates). From my past experience , they aren't very good at infertility stuff.

Re: Baby #2 and PCOS

  • Most of us on this board are still trying to have baby #1, so you might want to check out the Secondary Infertility board.  Hope you have good luck with your appointment!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.

  • Poof!?  REALLY?!

I've been on Met for almost 2 years now and nothing.....

  • There are so many annoying things about this post.  For starters, if your fertility specialist isn't good with infertility stuff then find a new specialist...Hmm

ETA: sorry, I read it wrong and you said your ob/gyn isn't good at infertility.   The post is still annoying though.

  • I am going to try to give you advice in the nicest way so please know that I am not being snarky. This is the IF Vets board. While we have some SAIFers and some TTC #2, the majority of us are still trying for number one.And most of us have been at this for years.

My question is, if you are still on metformin, and that seemed to be the catalyst to your pregnancy, why would you think that you would have trouble conceiving number 2? There are millions of women that have PCOS and don't have trouble TTC. It seems like you found what worked and it should, in theory, work again. (ETA: I just re-read and it looks like you are not on Met anymore.) If you don't like your doctor, switch. You are your own advocate.

I don't try to dissuade anyone from posting here but I think that you might be able to find a better fit on Secondary IF or IF or SAIF...or even TTGP. GL with everything.
