I've gotten the flu shot before, and never had a reaction to it. I didn't last year and got hit with the flu in January, so I don't think I want to take my chances again this year.
I put "of course, who wouldn't," but I can totally understand why some people don't. I got my first flu two years ago. Before that, I never got the shot. I thought people were babies for complaining about it so bad. Now, I can't imagine risking getting the flu if there's a vaccine for it.
The ONE YEAR I didn't get a flu shot, I wound up with the flu (that's the kind of luck I have! Lol). My Ob/Gyn gave me my flu shot already, at my September appt. Done!
Nope. Never saw the point to it, and I work in health care. I'd just like to know why you guys are getting it so early? Is flu season around the corner for you guys? From what I've been told from coworkers, it is only good for about 3 months anyways...
I don't get it because you can still get the flu even if you get the flu shot. It doesn't cover ALL flu strains...it just covers a few strains they think will be prominent during the season.
Last year we all got a strain of flu and my boys had gotten the flu shot and I didn't...so it didn't really matter if we got the shot or not..it wasn't one of the covered strains in the shot.
I never received it with my other 2 pregnancies either.

I go today for one actually. I've always gotten one because I work with young children in an elementary school. The colds and germs are already flying around! I want our LO to have immunities, too, once he/she is born.
DS gets one, too, and so far we've had no issues.
DH never gets one and get the flu at least once or twice a year. Every year he thinks he doesn't need one but there he is without fail on the couch for at least a week.
My Dr suggested shots for the whole family. MH got his last Sunday, I got mine Tuesday, and my girls got theirs yesterday.... they were NOT happy about it.
Guess it depends on where you live then, flu season is not until around November here and like I said, I'm in health care and you can ask any doctor/nurse, they will tell you it is only good for about 3 months. I don't get the discrepancies, but whatever.
Just posted my own question about this but now see this thread.
If you do a bit of research - which we all should be doing - you'll find that NONE of the vaccines have been studied on pregnant women over a long term period. ONLY TWO have been tested on pregnant mice. NONE are recommended for moms who are breastfeeding.
Personally, I don't trust these vaccines enough to get one. I haven't had the flu in years and haven't had a flu shot since 2005.

I just got mine today.
I got mine last week.
I'm not getting one. I've never had a flu shot in my life and I never get the flu so what's the point.
Also my ILs get the flu shot every year and also get the flu every year...
It does work for some people though
