Trying to Get Pregnant

Acupuncture?

Re: Acupuncture?

  • I have my first consult on Monday. One of the RE's in the office I go to is a licensed acupuncturist.

I've done it for other conditions, and swear by it! But it's not for everyone.

    Started TTC 2/2009
    Started fertility treatments 11/2010
    Ovarian dysfunction, LPD, male factor
    6 failed medicated IUI's
Pregnant 5/2011 - Miscarriage at 6 weeks due to triploidy
    Decided to adopt - 6/2012
SURPRISE! Pregnant without intervention - 7/2012
    Sweet Baby James Born 3/2013
Decided to be "One and Done"

    ....OR NOT.
Pregnant 12/2018 despite birth control pills
    Here we go again...
    Due 8/26/19!

  • I did 10 sessions and decided it wasn't for me.  Truth be told, I think it was the Acupuncturist that I didn't like.

I would be open to trying it again, but with a different practitioner.  I haven't done this because it is expensive and isn't covered by my plan.

I've heard it is supposed to be great for fertility and relaxation.

    GL.

After 15 cycles and 3 rounds of clomid (50mg) we got our BFP.

Lots of luck to my Golden Girls
  • I had 10 sessions, went every Friday when I was obsessed with TTC, which was about 2 months into TTC, she had me start charting which caused me to stress so I stopped charting, I did feel the sessions helped me relax temporarily. After 10 sessions, I lost hope honestly, still TTC, on to month 9 but no longer putting hope on acupuncture for helping me conceive. Since every body is different, good luck to you.
    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
    FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).
  • I started going on July 18th and my acupuncturist said I'd be pregnant within 2-3 months.  I got a BFP on September 14th, and altough it ended in miscarriage, I do think the acupuncture helped. I'm going to keep going weekly through the end of the year and then re-evaluate.  I figured it's so much cheaper than even doing one IUI with the RE so I want to maximize my chances of getting pregnant this year and then if not, I'll look to Western medicine.

  • I did this with DS and swear it's what helped regulate my cycles. I always O'd around 20+ days and the cycle I did acupuncture, I O'd exactly on day 14 and got pregnant. Of course it could've been a fluke but I'll take it. I did one session as an overall body session and did a session the week I was planning on O'ing. GL!
  • I went to acupuncture a few months ago, but I really didn't like the acupuncturist. She scared me even more about my ability to get pregnant just so she could try to get more money out of me. The cycle I was going ended up lasting 50 days so I gave up on the acupuncture thinking it was making my cycles worse.  However, my next cycle was a really good one, and I really believe it was because of the acupuncture. I Oed on CD20 (instead of my normal CD23-28) and had a lot of EWCM (which I normally don't notice),and my LP was 13 days instead of my usual 11. Unfortunately, DH was out of town during that entire fertile window. Crying  I started going again this cycle - to a different acupuncturist.  It certainly won't hurt for you to try it. Good luck!
