TTC after 35

There goes my plan <vent>

So, I thought, ok, this one didn't stick, so I'll try again in October, then (if it works out) it'll be born in July and I'll not miss too much work (teacher) and still get to spend time with the new little one. Sounds like a good plan, right? WRONG. My OB said I needed to wait 3 months. Sad That sounds like an eternity to someone over 35 whose time is running out.

That means I'll have to wait until January and then if, and only if, I get pregnant right away (which we know how that works out) LO won't be born until October. I'd have to miss work (and several pay checks). Remember that my DH is a SAHD? We could probably use savings, but.......

I think I'm stressing about this too much. I think the fact that DH is a SAHD and I'm a teacher is putting too much of a strain on the whole scenario. I feel like I have to follow a format. Babies don't work that way. This is frustrating.I think I should just relax and let the cards fall where they may.

Re: There goes my plan <vent>

  • I am a teacher too and with my first I really wanted to have him in april-may.  well 6 months ttc and a m/c then ttc for another 9 months before I got pg with my DS didn't exactly work like I planned.  I had him in July and luckily stayed home until December with him and it worked out fine.  We are going to TTC in late spring again, but I am not going to hold my breath that it works out how I plan.  Sometines you just have to let it go and after having my m/c I was just happy to have a sticky baby
  • You're right. That's what I'm struggling with. Letting it go. Thank you for your thoughts.

  • Yes, believe me when you get that sticky baby you won't care!  Can you use some sick days when you have a baby?

  • I know I won't, and yes..we get 10 every year.

I know I'm just being stupid. I'm in hormonal hell right now.

  • Im sorry to hear about your loss. My friends who had tubal pregnancies  did not wait the 3 months and actually got pregnant quicker and had twins because their hormones were so high. Im a teacher too and boy I wanted that March baby and I would stay home through Sept, but like everyone said you cant plan life... I will be happy whenever it happens. Does your state have the family leave act?
  • Yes, we have the family leave act. That's interesting to hear about the twins. Thank you for sharing that.

DH and I have decided that we're going to probably try in October anyway, and if it doesn't happen, we're probably going to wait until August and try again. tick tick tick...

My original plan (11 years ago) was to have an August baby.  Obviously that did not work.  However, in the mean time DH now has paid paternity leave that doesn't count against his sick or vaction time.  So now it doesn't matter at all, it can work at any moment.

OP, I know that you are hormonal and emotional right now.  Maybe it will all work out perfectly in the end.  Hugs to you. Left Hug
