April 2012 Moms

Pathetic so I thought I'd share

I work in a hospital as a speech pathologist.  I'm still feeling extra tired but over the last few days it's been a little worse.

Yesterday I was so tired that I fell asleep while writing up an evaluation report...in the middle of a unit...with doctors and nurses walking around.  I think I was out for about 5 minutes.  Pathetic.

 Anyone else TOTALLY exhausted?

  • This made me giggle as I can totally relate. I'm a sped teacher and I almost fell asleep during a lesson yesterday after lunch. I'm going to need to schedule nap time soon! I also fell asleep during our staff meeting last week but the only person to notice was my best friend at work and she knows I'm pregnant.

  • Yea totally. I went out shopping for an hour yesterday and got home at 4pm and slept through dinner and right up until DF's alarm goes off at 7.30pm. I have never been this exhausted in my life and I'm due back at work next week. I'm a receptionist so hopefully no falling asleep at the desk

  • Hey, I'm a speech pathologist too, but in the educational setting! :) I literally had one of those "head bobbing" tired moments where I kept "almost" falling asleep....while doing therapy with kids! How is that even possible?!?

LuvCG, I am a speech pathologist AND totally exhausted AND the same due date as you :)  I can't keep my eyes open.  I work in a middle school.  My kids have been telling me I look tired for weeks.  The only one at work who knows I'm pregnant is my boss.  I think we'll tell everyone in 3 or 4 weeks so then at least people will understand.  But boy I sure can't wait to get some energy back :)

Blessed to be married to my best friend & so in love with our little man!!

  • I've fell asleep a few times while I was watching TV with DF. Not the best.
    due april 10th :))
  • Yeah for SLPs! I'm one too.  When I was practicing, I worked in a school setting.  I don't know how you all are doing it with all the exhaustion we have in the first tri.  I went back to school last year to start a PhD in speech, which I guess comes with it's own set of issues around pregnancy.  But at least my schedule is a little more flexible than the school based hours.  Good luck ladies!
  • I fell asleep in a meeting the day before I got my BFP. I was quite embarrassing. I can relate.

  • Oh yes! Completely understand!

I actually mentioned to my boss yesterday (she's the only one at work I've told, and she's keeping it mum until I'm ready for others to know) that I was apologizing in advance, in case I did the head bob or actually nodded off during a long afternoon meeting we were headed to. I'm the note-taker for said meeting, so it's pretty bad if I fall asleep! lol! I've been VERY close a few times so far. I think I'm going to start scheduling naptime at lunch now!

Are there really four SLPs in this birth month?  Strange coincidence!  I'm working on my MCD half time, working full time, and have really had to reevaluate what I can get done in a day.  I fell asleep yesterday reading for a class...  And it was 8:30 p.m. :)

Late to this game, but I'm an SLP too!  I work in an elementary school.  So fun to see other SLPs on here :)  I do private therapy after school too and it's been kicking my butt.  We have off tomorrow and Friday though so I'm excited for a looong weekend!

  • Wow!  Lots of SLPs having babies in April, lol.  Yeah, I work in a hospital and do a part-time job after hours.  It's a lot but I'm sticking to it for now.  Both of my bosses know and understand what I'm going through but I don't walk around the hospital saying, "Hey, I'm pregnant!" so I must have looked kind of weird that day.
