Re: Help... Milk/formula

  • I've been trying to figure out how to make the transition as well. From what I have read, you should wait to give them milk until their first birthday. I've switched from bottles to sippy cups. I am not sure if I am just supposed to replace the formula with milk, change when I give him a sippy cup and/or change how often I give him a sippy cup. It is confusing.

  • Our pedi likes new things to start being slowly transitioned 2 weeks before the next appointment.  At her suggestion we're starting off slowly with milk in about 2 weeks.  He drinks 6oz bottles so we'll start with 2oz whole milk and 4oz formula for a few days, then do 3oz of each, then 4oz of milk and 2oz formula, and then all milk.

  • We'll wait until we get the go-ahead from our Pedi at DS's 12 month appt. He had some lactose problems and is still on a lactose-free formula so we'll follow the Drs advice.
