I did not get a baby carrier sling yet (like a moby or a balboa designed by Dr. Sears) and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on which ones to look into. Or if you are not planning to get one- why not? For 2+ time mom's... did your baby enjoy being in it? What brand sling do you have and do you like it or wish you would have gotten another style/brand?
Re: Baby Carrier/ Sling Opinions
I currently have a Moby for the little, little stage, a Belle for up to about 15-18 lbs and then an Ergo. I love all 3, but I'm thinking about replacing the Moby with a K'Tan which is like a pre-wrapped moby.
The one thing that surprised me is that I bought the Ergo specifically so I could do back carries, but DS hates to be carried that way

This is what I've heard too.
I loved my Moby and used it with DD until she was about a year old and didn't want to be in anything. The Ergo always felt awkward to me--I know everyone loves it, but not me. I'll give it one more shot with this one, and if I don't like it, I'll sell it.
I have a Peanut Shell, which I liked, but DD never looked comfortable in. My ring sling was much easier to get adjusted for a comfy fit. I liked the Belle carrier once DD was a little older--simply because it was the least cumbersome of all the carriers, fit in my diaper bag, and I could put it on in 30 seconds! It was pretty good on my back too.
Do you have a specialty baby store in yoru area? Sometimes they have baby wearing classes or they let you "rent" carriers to see if you like them. I bought 2 more Mobys at a consignment shop because I like the different colors, and they were super cheap ($15 each).
Babywearing makes life so much easier--you get your hands back, and your LO stays content. Most of the time DD was in the Moby, she slept. I went to dinner, shopping, and the movies with her in there, and she slept the whole time!
We loved our fleece Peanut Shell sling (but they stopped making it). I just ordered another fleece sling off of Etsy.com. We still have the old one and my DH loves wearing it too. I also got the Ergo this time around which you can use up to 40lbs. My 4-1/2yr old still isn't 40lbs so it will get a lot of use too!
I didn't care for firmer fabric slings because they cut into my shoulders/neck.
DD1 absolutely hated a sling (and I did too)! They're SO uncomfortable.
We *LOVED* our Moby wrap! It's great for when they're little. I'd put DD1 in it, and she'd be asleep within minutes and sleep for hours!
I really like the Ergo for when they're bigger and can be back carried.
With DD#1 I had a Infantino Sling (since recalled and no longer sold) and a Baby Bjorn. I loved the sling. The Bjorn is okay, but it hurts my back to wear for too long.
With DD#2 I had the newer Infantino Sling (also since recalled and no longer sold), a Baby Bjorn, a Hotsling, and a Mei Tai carrier. I loved the sling. Bjorn was still okay. The Hotsling was difficult to get baby in and out of, but I liked it once she was in. Didn't care for the Mei Tai.
This time I have a Balboa Baby sling (closest I could find to my old Infantino that I loved), a Baby Bjorn, a Hotsling, a Mei Tai, a Infantino Easy Rider (I think that's what it's called, very similar to a Mei Tai), and I am considering a Beco or Ergo (these seem to be the best of the best).
I wear my babies a lot, especially the more kids I have! So I need lots of choices!
I use the sling for the first few months and then switch to a carrier, but before the Bjorn was only useful to me for a few months and then it wasn't comfy so I'm hoping the Beco/Ergo last longer this time.
