Success after IF

"You had time to vacuum?!"

Is what DH said to me when he saw the vacuum upstairs instead of in the closet where we keep it downstairs.   I said "Um yes I vacuumed the whole house, mopped the floor (our 1st floor is all hardwood), cleaned 2 bathrooms, did laundry, made zucchini bread and put dinner together in the crockpot".

He looks at me and shakes his head in disbelief.  He couldn't believe I did all that in one day.  I didn't see what the big deal was.   what the heck else should I do?  Chores need to get done, so I do them.    Oh and he thinks it's amazing when/if I take both kids to the playground.  He has never taken them anywhere alone.

When he's alone with the kids (like when I'm working) all day, he says he just tries to survive.  I asked him "Why what do you do all day (I know he doesn't do any cleaning or laundry) when you're home with them?".  He answered "Just try to survive".

Boy he is in trouble in a few months when Ava starts crawling or when she really starts rolling to get from point A to point B.

  • Haha, DH said if we have twins he'll stay at home...NEVER going to happen, he would not be able to get anything done. I mean, he's a great dad but it's about survival and we only have one right now.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."

  • I guess I am a mix of your DH and you. There are days I am all about survival and other days I am productive but I only have 1. Good for you for getting it all done.
  • Okay, I don't know how you managed to do all that. Of course, it has gotten much harder to accomplish anything with my little one on the move. DS1 used to see obstacles as a hindrance; DS2 sees them as a challenge. Oy.
  • I finally laid down the law that DH has to find ways to incorporate DD into chores because I was tired of being the one who had to multitask and never got to play.  So he started putting her in the frame carrier to pick up the yard and folding clothes together.  He also started taking her on all of his weekend errands and letting me sleep.  :)  They spend a lot of time pushing a cart around Home Depot.  :)

However, like pp, some days I completely understand just surviving!  :)
