Flu Shot?

This is safe for us right? My dr. gave me a perscription but I have not researched it.
You guys getting it? Any controversy with it?

Do you trust your doctor so little that you don't trust his prescription? Do you think he would've written it for you if it weren't safe?

I question things Doctors say all the time. There is all kinds of conflicting medical information. I trust my Dr. but I always investigate things on my own as well.

Yes it is safe and I had it with DS as well. Babies cannot have a flu shot until they are 6 months old. It does cross the placenta and helps protect the baby for the winter.

I got one last month at my 24 week appointment. She said not only was it safe but it would protect both me and LO. With the season changing there's sick bugs going around (especially at my office!). I didn't want to risk getting sick so got the flu shot. I actually feel better that it was administered by my ob/gyn office.

My dr pretty much insisted on it. After I had it, I went online, and there is some controversy surrounding a preservative that used to be in the shots. Of course then I started worrying, but I've been told the shots they administer at the OB are preservative free. If you're worried, just ask for preservative free.

Pregnant women are in the category of strongly advised to get the flu shot. I am aware that people have differing opinions on the flu shot. However, I listen to my doc on this one. I got my flu shot at my 31 week appoinment, right in my OBGYN office.

My doctor told me I needed to get it and that pregnant women who get the flu can die. So I guess I will be getting mine this week. I am not a fan of the flu shot by any means.

I got one yesterday and two pediatricians that I've been interviewing also strongly recommend it. DH will be getting his as well. Same goes for the Pertussis vaccine.

I don't trust anyone to have total control over what goes in my body; I always question what the dr wants me to take. Like the diflucan that said on the box "Do Not Take If Pregnant"... My dr's office has started offering flu shots now; there were people getting them today. I'm not getting one. I don't ever get them because they make me feel like I have the flu. Not something I want on top of all the pregnancy discomforts.

There is a lot of controversy about flu shots, during pregnancy and not. Research it. And it is always a good idea to question something that is going to be put in your body. I'm not getting one, never have and never will and I wont be giving it to my children either.

Then, I guess I don't get the point of even going to the doctor. Just google everything, and figure it out for yourself.

These people aren't in on some grand conspiracy to f*ck up your body. The flu vaccine protects you and your unborn LO from something that could kill. Sure you can always find some nutjob website that supports the opposite point of view, and if that's your idea of "research", then more power to you. It's just too bad your kids are caught up in the wake of the craziness.
