does your daycare center have a lot of administrative turnover?

DD has been at the same daycare since she was 4 months old, she's almost 3 now.  The 3rd director since we started just quit/got fired (and the 4th or 5th Assistant Director got fired last week).  The teachers have all stayed mostly the same, but its funny b/c seriously its like the old time parents and teachers just work directly w/ each other and don't involve the administration at all.  It works, but at the same time, I think a good administrator could help so much and just provide more continuity.  I debate whether I want to move DD b/c of all this, b/c it just smacks of poor management, but I do like the teachers and she has built strong bonds with her friends there too and I have become good friends w/ some of the other parents too - so it would be very disruptive to move her now.

  • We have a new director at our preschool. I think as long as you have good teachers, it doesn't really matter in most cases. Although, the new director kind of dresses sloppy (one of my teacher pet-peeves) and just doesn't look professional. And the first parent meeting was a disorganized disaster.

  • We've had no administrative turnover since we've been there, and I think both the Director and AD have been there for years and years.  I'd worry more about teacher turnover, personally.

  • No, surprisingly our daycare center has very, very little turnover.  It is probably the thing that I like the most about our center.  DD1 is so attached to everyone there, and it has been the same people since she was 9 weeks old, that I can't imagine moving her.  Now that I think about it, only one teacher has left since we started (retired) and there have been no changes in the administration at all.  I guess we are just lucky.
  • We've only been at this center for 1 year, but so far, there has been no administrative turnover. 1 year isn't very long though.

  • DD has only been in daycare since August but they've already on their third center administrator since I've been there and we found out last week that they had to let one of DD's teachers go.  I'm hoping that things calm down soon as this is getting out of hand.
  • I think if she seems to get good care and the teachers are working out, I would consider staying with it. Our dc has not had a lot of administrative turnover, but a lot of the kids in DD's class have changed. I think there is only one kid in her room that was there when she started!

I wonder why your location is different. ...

I don't have any recommendations, but we looked into said daycare and it was in the top 3, so this is good to know!
