Hawaii Babies

**Sanae**

I can't wait for a trip report - and didn't you already take K on a cruise once before?  My dad is retiring in the Spring and I really want to take him and my mom on a cruise to Alaska... Disney leaves from Seattle in 2012 :)

DH is convinced J would be miserable !!

Re: **Sanae**

  • Disney cruise would be awesome! You could drop J off at their day care. We aren't doing a Disney cruise - i wish! Ours requires them to be 2 to do the day care. We did Alaska on NCL and it was rough because Kaya was 7 months so she was crawling but not walking and the only place we could let her crawl around was on the bed in our cabin! She got quite restless. But now that she's walking she can just run circles around the deck and she'll be happy. Seriously, I think she could just run around ALL DAY and she'd be happy. I'm sure if you did the Disney cruise J would have fun since they obviously cater to kids and there will be lots for him to do. :)

or leave him with the grandparents  :)

Ok, thanks so much for the feedback.  I think DH is concerned about the tiny room and amount of activities for a 2 year old.  I think there will be plenty to do and he does well traveling in general (and eating out and going to planned live and movie type theater entertainment).

At age 3 he would be able to go to the kids club activities rather than the toddler nursery but I think this year works out better because the following summer we are planning a quintessential American road trip to Yellowstone (with DH's fam too).

Also, DH apparently thinks it's crazy talk to consider putting J in any sort of activity camp think at any age (I mentioned it recently when talking about our upcoming trip to HI and how it would be nice if J was a little older and could go to the a few sessions of the planned activities at the resorts we are staying at).  I have no issue with it, and probably would have loved it as a child.

I think DH also isn't convinced he can (and wants) to be gone 7 nights.  So he appears to be anti-cruise in general but is using J's age as a reason at the moment.  The easy fix it to leave him at home :) haha.

  • LOL.  I totally think you should do it.  And since he's used to being at DC he will be fine going to the DC on the ship.  I would LOVE to be able to leave Kaya (but she barely lasted 10 min at the gym kids club).  If you can leave him for a couple hours in Hawaii, you should, too, so you can relax on the beach or something.  Again, I would LOVE to do that.

The road trip sounds AWESOME.  We've talked about renting an RV and driving around the country.  Maybe some day...

unfortunately the minimum age in HI is five!  I don't think it's just the rule of the places we are staying (Fairmont and Hyatt) - I think it is somehow tied to the HI state day care regs or something because all the resorts are like that. Oh well.  I'm resigned to know that "vacations" will never be the same  :)  And someday my kiddo probably won't want to hang out with his parents so I should cherish it while I can...

Yeah, good point.  Well, they won't be the same until the kids are off to college.  :P  Then we get to relax again.
