LO's hair only grows on the top?

I don't think she has lost any hair on the sides, she has always been a tummy sleeper and I carry her a lot so her head isn't getting rubbed on all the time... I kept thinking that her head was just growing too fast for it to keep up, but today I pulled her natural mohawk up to see how long it was and it was almost 2 1/2 inches!  The hair on the sides is only about one.  How did this happen?

    LOL Our babies are exactly opposite.  J has almost no hair on top of his head, just peach fuzz.  But in the back it is over an inch long.  I call it his baby mullet.
