Does anyone have APS and what was your pregnancy experience?
I have had six pregnancies that all ended in miscarriage. After the last one I was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. We are now TTC for the seventh time. We have been trying for about a year now and the doctors diagnosed me with secondary infertility last month. Which basically means that they have no idea why all of a sudden I stopped being able to get pregnant when I am usually as fertile as can be. Now I am on my first round of Clomid to increase ovulation and I am crossing my fingers that this works.
Re: APS and Pregnancy
I'm sorry for your losses. I had several pg losses while doing IF treatments and after the 2nd loss, I was diagnosed with APAS, along with 2 other clotting issues. My fertility dr. felt as though the APAS and the other clotting issues may have contributed to my pg losses. I was told that I needed to take Heparin (blood thinner) shots during pg, for the APAS. I actually got pg again with IF treatments and did Heparin as the dr. recommended. But that pg ended in a m/c, too. Dr. then felt that I had egg quality issues, which no amount of Heparin would fix or improve.
I now am pg as a result of using an egg donor and have been taking Lovenox (similar to Heparin) shots ever since a gestational sac was confirmed on u/s and things have been going well.
Good luck to you! I'd see what your dr. says about the APAS. Some drs. just use baby aspirin to treat it during pg; others prefer Heparin or Lovenox.
