How often do you sweep/vacuum? I do it almost every day and sometimes I think I could do it twice a day. I know it depends on the breed (we have a border collie), but it is getting old!
On a side note. Do you take your dog(s) to family gatherings? Birthday parites, Christmas gatherings etc...
Re: Those of you with dogs...
I vacuum at least once a day- and our dog is shaved- so she really doesnt' have that much hair, but it drives me nuts to even see one hair!
Daisy doesn't go to family gatherings- she gets very overwelmed- and there are lots of kids and that makes me nervous. She's older and likes to sleep a lot and gets upset when kids try to ride her or pull her ears and tail. When we have parties at our house with lots of people she goes over to our neighbors house and plays with their dog.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I have two Labs and vacuum/sweep every day. It's one of the time I'm thankful to have a small apartment, because I can get it all done in about 15 minutes.
Yes, they always come with us to family gatherings. The dogs are part of our extended family - when my family (parents, sisters, brother) gets together there are six Labs in attendance. Thankfully my parents have a big, secure, fenced-in yard!
The only time they wouldn't come would be to a more formal event with non-family members (like a baby shower or something like that).

as for family functions, it depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on how many people will be there and where it is. Our parents are out of state, and we can't fly with Gracie. And driving for long trips with her is getting tough, as we just don't have the room in the car for her. But day trips to my brother's house in the burbs, she usually comes. But they are dog people.
Because we're fancy like that.
No way I could vacuum during the week at all. I have 2 hours when I get home with DS, which is already packed to the gills with dinner, some playtime, and bedtime routine, and I can't vacuum when he's asleep (he's freakishly attached to the vacuum and wakes up, not because of the noise but because he wants to chase it around). So I vacuum once a week on the weekend. My house is a little hairy sometimes but not too bad unless he's shedding really bad. Also, Buster isn't allowed in every single room and he's not allowed on the furniture, so that helps.
Buster does not come with us to family gatherings.
We vacuum probably 2-3 times a week and sweep every day. We have a lab/golden mix so she sheds a lot. Plus our house is on the market so we have to keep up on it more than ever.
No, we don't take our dog to family gatherings. She is quite skiddish and would probably rather stay at home and sleep! She's nearly 8 years old and DS messes with her all day.

We are basically the same (minus the roomba although I'm very intrigued about one right now!). Our floors, etc are swept/vacuummed daily. We have two short hair dogs that shed some (not a ton but not a little). We do not take them to family gatherings (unless they're specifically invited....which, sadly, is rare).
