D.C. Area Babies

name this stroller, pls!

I was out and about the other day and saw a mom pushing what looked kind of like a snap n' go, but it had a little seat in the back (that faces the person pushing) for a toddler to sit in. I didn't see a name brand on it and didn't think to just ask the mom (duh).

I've been thinking that I want to get a City-mini double because I've loved our single one so much and I've heard good things about the double. But this thing that I saw looked pretty good, too and maybe easier at first for quick trips to the mall or grocery store.

Re: name this stroller, pls!

  • Sounds like either a Joovy Caboose (regular or Ultralight if the car seat was in the front) or a Baby Trend Sit n Stand. I'm leaning toward getting a Joovy Caboose Ultralight because I think DS will want to walk most of the time, but I like having the option for him to ride if he gets tired. I'm thinking I'll probably wait until spring to get it, though, when we'll all be outside more. Before then, for stores and short trips from car to somewhere like Gymboree or playgroup, I think I'll either wear the baby and take DS in our current stroller or use our new Chicco KeyFit Caddy for the baby (from the ILs this weekend) and let DS walk.

  • Agreed on the Sit and Stand or the Joovy Caboose.  It was my original plan to get that for the second stroller when DS came along but my daughter wasn't ready to give up riding for walking so we bought the CIty Mini Double instead.  No regrets.  DD still loves being able to ride in a regular seat.  Warner will be a full year older than DD was so perhaps the jump seat would work really well with him.  I think it's brilliant.
  • thanks, ladies! it was definitely the Joovy Caboose that I saw...and I just found one on Craigslist for super cheap. I hope it's still available!

I have no idea what stage Warner will be in when the baby gets here, but right now when we go places like a museum or walk the trail to the park, he rides for awhile and then wants to walk or vice versa. This seems like an easy way for him to be able to do that.

  • We have the City Mini Double and while I like it for our long walks around the neighborhood, I think it's too cumbersome for getting it in and out of the car for running errands. It's pretty heavy and it's wide which makes it somewhat hard to get in and out of the car. Also, I was pushing it around downtown Bethesda and I needed to go into a store (GT Cupcake) and it was too wide to fit through the door. If I were to get a stroller for running errands with 2 kids, I would get something more like the Joovy, especially since Warner will be a bit older than DD when #2 is born. I still like the Mini for long walks or for special events (like when we go to a farm) but for running errands and such, I would prefer something lighter.

Kendra, that's exactly what I was thinking. and seriously, if it can't fit in the door of Georgetown Cupcake, forget it!! ;-)

I just looked on Craigslist and there were several Joovy's for sale...pretty good prices (one for only $45!). I am going to wait a bit before I buy, but I was glad to see that they are out there.

That's good to know. I may keep an eye out for a Joovy for myself on CL. I took the kids to two activities by myself on Sunday and getting that stroller in and out of the car without DH was too much for my back.

If you do end up getting a Mini as well, you can borrow my carseat adapter extension for it.

  • We have the Joovy ultralight caboose and love it.  It is great because by the time Molly was coming along Maggie was done riding in the stroller and she loved the novelty of sitting or standing.  We still use it although Maggie rides less and less and Molly is starting to hate riding in the stroller too.  I agree about having a small single stroller for short trips where you know your older one will want to walk but for anything where the older one might get tired we use the Joovy (like the zoo etc).
  • We have a joovy caboose ultralight that I'm about ready to sell as only my youngest is in a stroller now and its a lot easier to use the single stroller out than the double. We rented a citimini double at disneyworld this past xmas and I fell in love. If I didn't already have the joovy I would have bought that but I couldn't find any cheaper ones on craigslist so I kept the joovy. It has been great and it folds up nicely too.
