Kissing on the lips

My mom keeps kissing DD on the lips. I don't like this! I keep telling her she can kiss her on the cheek, forehead, anywhere else just not the lips. I don't want to hurt her feelings by really laying into her but she just won't listen. Do you let grandparents kiss your LO on the lips? Discuss please.

Re: Kissing on the lips

  • I have no idea why this is an issue.

  • It really doesn't bother me. I don't think they try to kiss her on the lips but she definitely goes for theirs. And with her big, sloppy kisses I worry more about them catching something than her.

  • Doesn't bother me that family kiss DS on the lips I personally don't see the issue with it??

  • Ew. I would not like that either.

People need to keep their herpes to themselves! lol

No one kisses Spencer on the lips, I think it's because he's a total sloppy kisser. I wouldn't want anyone doing anything with my child that I asked them not to.

Pretty much this--B is liable to slip you the tongue if you kiss her lips, and who wants that?

TBH, I don't really see why you'd care, but I do think you need to have a talk with her about respecting your wishes.

  • I don't really care if family does it. I don't see the problem with it, unless they are sick. No yucky sickies please!

I don't see an issue with kissing on the lips either, but if she doesn't want someone doing it to her kid, then they shouldn't.

I took her request for discussion to mean she wanted to know what I do. Me specifically. The rest of these hors just like seeing themselves type.

  • I don't see a problem with this, but my family is a bunch of lip kissers. My dad still actually tries to do a 'hello' peck on the lips with me but it's weirded me out for years so I've instituted the last-second head-turn. DH has learned to give all my aunts a lip peck when he sees them.

Babies = OK, but you gotta draw the line somewhere.

He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

...big brother to...???? Due March 2014!

  • Hadley likes to give DH and I kisses on the lips and has for a long time. We are visiting family right now and Hadley has kissed my mom on the lips a couple of times. I don't care because it's my mom. Once she gets older this will stop though.
  • I kiss my kids on the lips all the time (both of them) and I don't plan on stopping.  If other people (close friend/family) want to that doesn't bother me either, any many do!

I still kiss my Mom/Dad on the lips (little peck) when I see them...my DH does the same with his Mother.

I will probably cry if Nolan ever tries to push me away when I go in for a smooch.

It *is* your child though, so it is your rules.

  • Doesn't bother me. Morgan doesn't really give people a choice either way. She loooooves to give big wet sloppy mouth kisses. She's a little hussy like that.

  • I don't think anyone does it in general.  I will have Abigail "kiss" my mom because it's funny.  She opens her mouth wide and slobbers her tongue.  It cracks me up every time.  I love my kid's sloppy kisses!
  • Yes, I kiss her on the lips too. She's my daughter, I just don't like it when other people do. My mom gets cold sores, it freaks me out. I guess I shoild have mentioned that in the original post.

  • DD is pretty stingy with her kisses so if you get one on the lips, good for you.  The only people that try are me and my mom.  I don't see it as a problem unless one of us is sick.  Then I ask my mom to just kiss her on the cheek.
  • DH & I kiss my LO on the mouth but I don't want anyone else doing it even grandparents. I think you should say something again to her if she is still doing it, it's your child your rules.
