Rolling to side?

My 4 month old just started to roll over to his belly. When he gets there though, he hates it! Whenever he is in his rocker (kinda like a bouncer) he is constantly trying to roll onto his side and belly but I always have to put him to his back cause his face is smashed and can hardly breather.  Has anyone had the same experience? Does it mean something? The doc said sometimes turning to his side means his belly hurts/he's constipated, but I don't think that's the case.....

Re: Rolling to side?

  • Rolling over is a baby milestone.  Allow it to happen under supervision, of course. You should also allow 15 min of belly time a day.  Your LO may hate belly time at first start w/ one minute at a time several times a day.Gradually increase your time increments as he gets use tot he position.

Yes. It means that your child is beginning to roll over. This means constant supervision since he can now likely roll out of all of the seats (boppy, rocker, bouncer, infant seat, swing, etc).

Lay a blanket out on the floor and put toys around him. He'll figure out that he can roll to the toy he wants. It's new, so he'll likely hate it at first. But within a week or so he'll get used to it and you won't be able to keep him on his back.
