Recommend Your High Chair

I have the Graco Blossom 4 in 1 chair and am just not loving it. We just assembled it yesterday, and I discovered it has those awful straps that I hated on my Graco swing that are 5 separate straps that you need to connect all together. The end result was that it would take me too long to strap her into her swing, so she'd end up pissed, and I'd have to pull her out.

Am I overthinking this? Do I not need to use the straps? She looks tippy in it...

So, do you have a high chair you love? We are still a month away from when we want to introduce solids, but I'd like to have her actually sitting at the table with us now. Until now she would sit with us in her bouncer.

I like the idea of some of the wood chairs (similar to the Tripp Trapp), but the reviews make them sound horrible and not worth the money.

Re: Recommend Your High Chair

  • We had the Fisher Price space saver high chair and I was really happy with it. It can be used reclined or upright.

Here's the link to one, sorry I don't know how to link properly.

  • I have a graco and only used the 5 point harness when he was not sitting up very steady. After about 2 months I stopped.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

  • If you have a chair to spare, we LOVE our FP space saver. If you'd rather have a free standing one, my SIL has a Chicco that is great (my fave feature of the chicco is a clear tray cover you can remove so you just clean that and not the whole tray).
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • I have the Fisher Price Zen.  I liked it because to wasn't brightly colored and fit in with my decor.  I haven't been thrilled with it.  Food gets stuck in a seam in the plastic tray and is a pain to clean out.

It has the same type of harness you are talking about but, we don't use it at all.  We might need to when he gets bigger and figures out how to climb out.

I have friends who have the Tripp Trapp and love it.  But, they adpoted a toddler, so they didn't need the infant attachment...

  • We also have the space-saver chairs for the twins and really love them.  They are so easy to clean.

I still buckle the twins at 16 months, or else they would be standing in the chair.  Ava sits at the table now, but I buckle her in, too, since there is no tray and she could fall out otherwise.  If the buckle is that much of a PITA, it might be a problem down the road.

  • Another vote here for the FP space saver. Love it for all of the reasons already mentioned.

  • We have two -- a Peg Perego high chair (called Primi Papa, I think) and a FP space saver high chair.  I really like the Peg Perego.  We primarily use that and it's easy to clean, is a subtle color so doesn't clash or really stand out.  It's easy to use and the seat can recline (easy for bottle feeding when they're first learning to hold it) and the chair is on wheels so can easily move from room-to-room if needed.

Our DR chairs are really nice so I don't love using the FP one on our chairs b/c I know they're get trashed.  But, when my toddler was a bit older but still needed a high chair, it became a great booster seat for us (w/o tray) on one of our kitchen chairs.

We also have a Phil & Ted's clip on chair and we put it in our kitchen island (and also bring it with us to restaurants and when we travel) and it is a complete lifesaver.  I can't recommend it enough.

  • another FP space saver here...I used the straps at first, but got lazy and don't now..when he starts trying to crawl out, I will put them back on.  I like it, although I have to wonder how nice the kind with the tray cover that you can just toss in the dishwasher might be :)
  • I love our Graco Contemporary.  I use the lap belt because he would climb out otherwise.  I don't even get why they come with those shoulder straps.  If they can't sit up what are they doing in a high chair?
