doll house dolls

So I have a doll house that was mine as a kid and I'm refurbishing it. I can't remember what dolls we used, probably barbies which I would like to avoid bc small parts, not wild about the image and they aren't the right size and scale for the house. A little too big and busty if you know what I mean.

So what dolls would you use?

I've looked at the kidkraft ones and the pbk ones online. Haven't seen either in person but was wondering what your thoughts were.

    Search for Ryan's Room or Plan Toys on Amazon. Both companies offer wooden dollhouse families that come in several different nationalities. They're definitely smaller than Barbies, and are sized to go with their wooden dollhouses. We're getting the Ryan's Room house/furniture/doll family for DD for Christmas. I can't wait--she is going to LOVE it! :-) HTH...

    We mostly use Playmobil people and medium-sized Disney fairy dolls (they're about 4" and their legs do not bend). For Christmas, DD is getting the taller fairies that are closer to Barbie size.

    We have a few Barbie-sized dolls (Snow White and Cinderella, plus a Sea World trainer) because they were not dressed as trashy as some of the other ones. My DD also has a bin of random little people - Polly Pocket, some little dolls that have rubbery clothes that you can change, etc.

    I've bought DD several of the dolls from the Only Hearts Club.  You can find them in a few toy stores but it's easier to order straight from their website.  They are Barbie size (11 inch) but have soft poseable bodies and are dressed appropriately for children in clothing that looks trendy but not trashy.  Also, they have children's pre-teen body shapes instead of Playboy fantasy shapes.  You can get every ethnicity and hair color, and they have little sisters available who are supposed to be about 3-5 years old.  These work great for larger play scale houses.  Otherwise, you have to buy 5-6 inch dolls if you have a more traditional small scale dollhouse (try Melissa and Doug- the dolls that go with their Victorian doll house).
