OB said it's likely that I'll have it with all of my pregnancies. She also said I have to wait a whole year to get knocked up again so that my liver function goes back to normal. Can anyone else commiserate?
I wasn't given severe restrictions like that. My LFTs started improving when i left the hospital. My OB also said i would have a 30% chance of reoccurance, so not as bad.

They told me you can't predict if it will happen again, but that your risk does increase. They monitored my liver function and determined it was back to normal around 4 months.

I had HELLP with my pre-e. Granted, I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2. My kidneys still aren't functioning properly 2 months later and some numbers are still high. They said it could take quite some time to actually get back to 100%. I was told that any fugure pregnancies would need to be discussed with both OB and the specialist I've been seeing. Mainly I'd be high risk, but they'd hopefully be able to catch anything much sooner and treat it, rather than finding out at the end when it was already severe. My problem is I had a placental abruption, so any future pregnancies might be out of the question. The likelihood of that happening again is quite high, in comparison to HELLP or pre-e, which is lower.
I had HELLP. I honestly don't know what my liver levels are like now. A week or so after delivery, my OB said that my liver levels look "great". I took that to mean that they were back to normal, but after reading this thread, i appears that may have no been the case.
I wasn't given any restrictions on TTC. We're not preventing now, but have plans to go back to the RE to "really" TTC after I wean in about a year.
I was told I have a 25%-30% chance of it happening again.
I had HELLP in December and can commiserate. My issues aren't due to liver function... my liver and kidneys squeaked by through HELLP, but my heart folded under pressure (when I got to the hospital, they estimated I had less than 15 minutes left to live -I felt bad, but not that bad). It is "normalized" now, but I've been "strongly advised" by every doc that has seen me, to not get pregnant ever again. They are convinced that next time, it will be fatal.
I know I am late to the game on this one, but I just discovered this board! I had pre-e/HELLP my first pregnancy, with an emergency c-section. I got pregnant 4 months after, and had a normal pregnancy. I was monitored very closely, but no pre-e or HELLP at all!
Re: Any other HELLP Syndrome victims out there?
We are "one and done", so I'm no help with the TTC stuff. But, when the time is right, I wish you the best!
