So, for the 2nd year in a row, I got into the Nike Women's Marathon in San Fran. Amazing, right?

Yeah, well, not so much. Somehow my hotel reservations got canceled and the email notification got sent to my work last night. I called this morning when I got in, but the room is already gone, which means that I don't have a place to stay out there, and everything is booked up.

To recap: (1) I'm out the money for the marathon and don't get to do it; (2) I'm missing out on going to Cali for the 2nd year in a row; and (3) I'm out $150 to cancel the plane ticket.

Waaahh!

I wish I knew. When I called, they said they had no idea. They gave me a credit to use later, which was nice, but not very helpful for this trip.

My SIL is a hotel manager. She said for large events, they ALWAYS overbook, and cancel random reservations. WTF! Our reservation was canceled in her hotel on NYE. Thank goodness we knew her, or we'd have been SOL. But she said it's a common thing. I think it's pretty sh!tty!

I would seriously pitch a fit and have the hotel reimburse your race and flight fees. Jerkwads!

That is pretty shitty. I would ask them to reimburse all your other non-refundable expenses.

I agree with this 100%. You should not be out money because they F***ed up. I would also ask for the cash value of the room cause I sure as heck wouldn't go back to that hotel.
