Hi!
I started my baby registry as I'm 22 weeks pregnant now and have so many questions. This is my first baby and I'm overwhelmed with the choices... lol
So what are ur recommnedations girls?
1- Best Stroller
2- Best cribs
3-Best Car seat
4-Best breast pump
5-BEst changing table
6-Softest/best nursery bedding
7-anything else you might recommend for my baby girl ![]()
Thank you!!
Re: Poll for cribs/strollers/babythings
1. baby jogger citymini
2. Any from Pottery Barn (We have the Thomas crib for my oldest and the Kendall for my youngest)
3. Graco MyRide 65- very comfy, easy to use, has cup holder and pillow for the kids, can be rear facing for awhile!
4. n/a
5. Don't get a separate one- use your dresser and a) either attach a changing pad to it (screw it down) or b) get a dresser w/a removable changing top. Our PBK Thomas dressers had a changing table topper and we removed them when they got too big for changing tables.
6. any... we have PBK and Target and BRU sheets. They're all the same.
7. Get a boppy pillow!
1. we're getting the Bugaboo Cameleon this time around and I SO wish I would have gotten it the first time but I thought it was stilly to spend the money until I realized how important it would be to have a comfortable stroller that grows with the baby.
2. Don't know if it's the "best" but we got our furniture at Ideal baby and it lasted great for my daughter through about 2.5 years when we got her a big girl set and now we will reuse it for baby #2
3. Again not sure if it's the "best' but we're getting the peg perego mainly based on the recommendations from the guy at buybuy baby. It fits into our stroller.
4. N/A I didn't BF
5. Our dresser was a combo and had the changing table on it so we just bought one of those pads for it. I would not waste money on a separate changing table, I don't think you use it long enough to justify the money nor having an additional piece of furniture.
6. Pottery Barn, I think hands down their bedding is the best, I have looked at other places (babies r us, buy buy baby) and it all feels cheap and hard in comparison. We got the bedding for my daughter's crib and big girl bed there and will be buying the bedding for baby #2 there also.

1- Best Stroller: I could tell you which not to get. lol We had the Graco Metrolite with Big E...it was too bulky. We did love the Maclaren, but this is for when baby is a bit older (about 6 months). My mom also had a combi at her house....super light and easy to fold.
2- Best cribs: We have a Babi Italia we bought at BRU. It's been sturdy and has survived 2 kids so far. lol The store Bellini on Miracle Mile has some beautiful cribs - it's a bit pricey but they are known to last...I have a few friends who have those cribs and have only good things to say.
3-Best Car seat: We had the Graco infant seat with Big E. I hated carrying the infant car seat so I decided to go straight to a convertible car seat with little E. We also have the Evenflo Triumph. Love it! Decently priced, great quality, and super comfy! We just bought a head support contraption for when he was little and no issues!
4-Best breast pump: Ameda Purely Yours!!! That pump is a monster machine and has gone through 2 babies with maximum use you can imagine (2 entire years of pumping) and it still works perfectly. BRU now carries Ameda Purely Yours ( I had to buy mine from a Lactation Consultant office at Mercy 3 years ago).
5-BEst changing table: Didn't use one and never missed it. We bought changing pad covers and changed both our babies on the bed.
6-Softest/best nursery bedding: We got both at BRU and they are ok. I agree with Leanna, the quality is not the best. I would probably go with pottery barn instead.
7- Bottles - We used Playtex Drop Ins with both babies and loved them! Both boys are acid reflux babies and these bottles helped tremendously. Plus, less washing involved as you use the disposable liners.
8 - Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper - BEST INVENTION EVER! :-) Wish it existed when we had Big E. Baby E slept in the sleeper at night until about 4-5 months next to my bed. It's like magic! Great for reflux babies as well since they sleep on an incline. It used to come in yellow only...there is a pink one available at BRU now.
9. Sling - Don't know if you are considering "baby wearing" but the sling or a carrier were very helpful in our household in order to get things done inside the house and keep baby cozy. We used Balboa Baby (BBB has them) sling with Baby E....so easy to use, not hot, and it was great on the go. I've hear great things about Baby K'tan as well.

I will add since I only included the infant car seat - we have the Britax Marathon convertible car seat and I love it.
My mom has the Evenflo Triumph in her car and I like that one also.
Thankx everyone! this was soooo helpful
Oh I forgot to ask for recs for:
8- baby monitors
9-humidifiers
10-rocker
11-bassinet (sleeping)
thank uuuuuuu!
8- we had a normal monitor with our first and wasn't digital... it was awful. It picked up feedback from our phones all the time! If you go with a normal monitor, go with something digital. We purchased the Summer Video monitor with the handheld screen and would never have it any other way. We now have a camera in the room AND play room and it's great.
9- we didn't get a humidifier until our LO was a year, and then we bought a vicks one. I hated the water in it, so we wound up getting one of the Vicks waterless humidifiers that you plug in. Works great.
10- i hated our glider. It was the $200 one from BRU that came with an ottoman. It broke. Don't get that one.
11- we bought a bassinet and DD #1 HATED it. She slept in the pack n' play most of the time. We lent the bassinet to SIL and HER DD hated it, too! Used it for our DD #2, same thing, she hated it. It was fisher price one from BRU, cream with a green bow. Don't get it. lol
8- baby monitors - We have the Angel Care Sensor Monitor and love it! Used the same one with both boys. It has 2 audio monitors plus the pad that goes under the crib and detects baby's movement - if baby stops moving for more than 20 seconds, the alarm will sound. We've only had 2 false alarms in the entire time we have used them. You can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor. We considered the video monitor but chose not to because I think I would just watch the baby all night instead of sleep. ha ha
9-humidifiers - we have thad a couple - the best so far has been the Crane humidifier - it comes in different animal shapes - we have the elephant. They sell these in BBB or BRU.
10-rocker - we got ours at BRU as well and sucks!! Broke and makes these creepy noises.
11-bassinet (sleeping) - We never bought a bassinet. We used the basic Graco pack n play with evan and it was ok. We then used the rock n play sleeper I mentioned above with Ethan and it was amazing!

WOW. u girls are awsome
I'm almost done doing my registry and couldnt have done it without your advice
Thank u.
OH, forgot diaper pails....lol Any difference which one I get?
8. We have the Angel Care movement monitor and I LOVE it, it gives me such peace of mind. THey just came out with a new one that is also a video monitor, so its movement sensor and video, best of both worlds, I'll be getting that one this time around.
9. We used a vaporizer, not humidifier and only when she was sick. It was a Vicks one.
10. n/a
11. Bassinet was eddie bauer, it was ok but she slept in bed with us, so this time I'm getting the co-sleeper from arm's reach.
We went through like 5 diaper pails til we found one that worked. Most girls here just take their diapers out to the garbage, but we keep our garbage in the garage and it just made it stink up more than a diaper pail.
We LOVED the arm and hammer diaper pail by Munchkin. You can refill the little plastic part with regular baking soda and it NEVER smells. WWAAAAAYYY better than the diaper genie, less expensive, and smells less!

I hated the diaper pail, no matter how many times I changed the bags my daughters room smelled like poop. I used these baggies that I got at Target, they're scented and when tied, there is no smell. They're amazing. We keep our garbage in our garage also and I never noticed an issue.
I have heard good things about the arm and hammer one though! But I will be skipping the diaper pain this time around!!
