TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Someone asked me "the question"

guy from a diff. department: "How's the little one?"

Me:  "Little one?"

guy: "You don't have children?"

Me: *pause...think, think, think* "Um, yes, well, no, well, none living."

guy: "Oh, I thought you said last time...."

Me:  "I did.  I said he was in the NICU.  He lived 11 days."

***awkward silence***

And then what did I dream last night?  An older lady at some random consignment shop was offering me onesies "for your little one..."  My response:  "No thank you, I'm pretty sure they won't fit him anymore...."

UGH.  In one sense, someone remembered I had a child.  In the other, how do you respond to such a question without the awkwardness?  Is that even possible?

Vent over!  Happy Saturday ladies!  It's going to be a good day, right!?!

  • Sending ((hugs)). Last year we had corporate visitors at work (the type that come like once a year) and they remembered the previous year I was pregnant with my twins so they asked how they were doing.

  • (((HUGS))) Answering those questions is so hard.  I still can't bring myself to tell strangers about my babies, so I just answer that I don't have kids.  I feel like a bad mom because it's like I'm denying the fact that I had children.  I hope some day I'll be able to tell people.
